• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Official Airport to SDK project: here is a small app to help you (draft)

Many thanks for that explanation. :-)

Now I must try doing that in a HEX Editor sometime, to see if I can do this successfully. 😉

I hope this works as it should. Had to edit the BGL to decompile it. This is the XML from your Flightsim.to .BGL.

The problem is the *Landmark Location*
:oops::oops::oops::oops::oops::oops:

I never got a notification for your reply in February, thank you thank you thank you!

This is working perfectly, all the layout stuff and naming schemes and so on. I'm not at a point in life where I can restart work on this, but this is such an important part of it!

So it wasn't the CGL stuff after all. Too bad Patrick Germain left the community, I'm sure for a programmer this would be a five minute job to fix in the tool.

Yes I am, trying and failing so far. Inibuilds LHR for 2024
afaik the official handcrafted airports are encrypted in a different manner exactly to stop us from meddling with it. That besides the fact that this tool was made for the MSFS 2020, and the 24 may use different encryption for its native scenery stuff.

Hi Patrick,
Thank you so much for your fantastic "Airport2Project" program. Rhumbaflappy recommended it to me, and it quickly solved my problem with my first scenery. I had completely lost hope of recovering the BGL objects that had disappeared from the Scenery Editor in my SDK. Thank you so much for your great work and help. Best regards from Spain. 🇪🇦👍

Also, there is a tool in the 2024 SDK. BglExplorer.exe that can examine 2024 airport bgls, and gives basic data for the 2024 versions.

Hi folks
Are you tired (like I am) to find your favorite airport incomplete ? (Missing taxi signs, shuffled taxi names, etc , etc).
So I wrote a small app that converts (as much as possible) an official airport to a project that you can use with the SDK to update your favorite airport.
I used it to update the airport where my fly school is based (CYHU) and I was able to correct and fix the taxi signs and taxi names.

Disclaimer: the app is based on the current (incomplete and partial) knowledge I have of the new structure of the FS2020 BGL files regarding airports. I will try to update it as this knowledge evolves. The app DOES NOT modify any file : it just creates a project that you should be able to use as is.

Enjoy !
Amazing work, @PatrickZ
