• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Official Airport to SDK project: here is a small app to help you (draft)

One question about the flags. If they are selected it will import them to the project but unselected will exclude them? For example, will it delete the approaches and departures as shown in the picture?

I would not expect so. These flags are going to exclude 'hide' the matching elements in the base airport. This is common practice so that the XML you have contains everything and you can edit that to suit your needs

So unless Patrick did something unusual these flags won't affect the XML which is generated

Thanks Jon for replying and it's correct: selecting these flags will hide the elements in the base (official) airport although the DeleteILSs generates some ghost vors (investigatings this one...)

thank you so much for this tool. it has helped me for sure. i do have a question about the Backcourse flag. I have RW35 which has the ILS and RW17 that would have the backcourse ILS.

<Ils lon="-96.36359" lat="30.59988" alt="92.354" frequency="110.550" magvar="-2.900" range="50017.000" backCourse="TRUE" heading="346.008" width="6.0" ident="ICLL" name="ILS RW35">
<GlideSlope lon="-96.36094" lat="30.58036" alt="92.354" range="50017.000" pitch="2.900"/>
<Dme lon="-96.36433" lat="30.59992" alt="102.717" range="50017.000"/>
</Ils>

so two questions related to that:

1) why would backCourse be "true" for RW35 and not RW17?
2) do i need to add an additional ILS entry for RW17?

i hope that makes sense. Thanks

Thank you very much Patrick for your tool, it works perfectly to locate a msfs base airport and can be edited. But I have a question: In Spain there is an aerodrome that msfs calls LEBM, it has two runways assigned, well, the name icao does not exist and it only has one runway, how can you do so that LEBM does not appear on the world screen with its two tracks and if my edited aerodrome appears with its correct nomenclature ES-0218 and a single track, the real one.

There are lots of Spanish airports that are mislabeled in MSFS. MSFS uses the ICAO as the airport identifier, but it only allows 5 alpha-numeric characters for the ID ("-" is not allowed"), so on 2 counts, they do not use ES-0218. At least this was the case a few updates ago.
What they have done, is simply made up an unused ICAO for the airport. You cannot use ES-0218 as that is not allowed in the sim's compiler. You could use E0218 or S0218.

The aerial imagery of ES-0218 clearly shows 2 runways, so Asobo's computer-generated AI placed 2 runways.

Attached is an example of closing LEBM, and opening E2018.

Thank you very much rhumbaflappy for your quick and kind response. It is true that they appear as two runways, but the real thing is only runway 02 - 20, the other is a taxiway. This help project is very useful for me to be able to present to my community the aerodrome as it is in reality and without altering the original asobo files. I repeat, I am very grateful to him, he has been a great help to me.
An affectionate greeting.
Vicente Barba.

Great tool! Edited my home airport and am working to fix 2 more that are close by. Downloaded some data about a week ago and it was fine. Had both a SIM and SDK update this past week, now I am unable to extract airport data. It finds the airport ICAO codes, but when I click to generate it crashes.

Any thoughts? Saw something in another forum about a reduction in file sizes, might be related, not sure.

I got the same issue. Big thanks for update!

Can this be used for an airport bgl from a scenery I created or strictly the apx bgl's in MSFS fsbase (for airport)........maybe a naming probably with the fsx bgl I created?

Thanks,
BobM.

Try it. As far as I can tell it should work for any FS2020 bgl file that contains an airport or scenery

I The file format for FSX is different than the file format for MSFS. You can do this with ADE 2020
