Hey Guys,
Like the title says....been painting freeware for years, most of my work at Avsim/Flightsim.com and everywhere else other folks re-uploaded my paints.
Comfortable with the traditional aircraft painting using Photoshop CS6 on 2d texture maps, know how to spell PBR and even created few bare metal liveries using PBR folks seemed to like.
Have some projects I've been asked to paint some "skins" (as the kids call them, hehe)for. These would be for other freeware dev teams doing other things to "enhance" the new sim. (all I can divulge).
Have the latest version of blender® and Substance Painter©...watched a few tutorials on both....extremely impressed with their features and literally drooling when thinking if I can get even remotely proficient with them, what I can produce within the new sim.
Sadly...no vids I've watched so far have given me that "Ahhhhhhhhh....THAT's what I was missing" moment when the 1st tumbler in the cypher-lock clicks into place and you can almost take it from there (all of you can releate...I know it!)
I know its probably that I have not found that vid yet, but if you guys have any primers or other starter guides that will lead me to get a plane model/UV map from blender to SP as I'd like to paint in a dedicated paint app vs using the basic, built in paint tools within blender....UNLESS you guys who've painted a plane in it already can tell me it's all I need to paint with.
I looked at this type of vid and a few others....and while very good...that 1st tumbler doesn't lock in place for me when viewing them.
Hoping to become a contributor again in our community.
Steve
