One thing I cant resolve is the Taxi Light

Hi All

I have been modifying Robert Versluys Airbus A380-800 slightly and also created a half decent cockpit for this very easy to fly Aircraft.

One thing I cant resolve is the Taxi Light. I can see the light in AI and outside but cannot see it in VC and Cockpit.

Is there a way around this
Or can I add an effect to the Aircraft. If so where can I find a decent .fx taxi light. I am assuming that this would not turn with the nose wheel and would be a compromise.

Always did wonder what 5=landing did

FS9 doesn't use ".fx" files for either the LIGHT_LAND or LIGHT_TAXI at all.

Always did wonder what 5=landing did :confused:

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 2, 30.669, 0.00, 26.37, fx_beaconh,
light.1 = 1, 45.259, 0.00, -3.50, fx_strobeh,
light.2 = 2, -109.990, 0.00, 16.22, fx_navwhih,
light.3 = 2, -109.950, 0.00, 16.25, fx_strobeh,
light.4 = 2, -110.000, 0.00, 16.15, fx_strobeh
light.5 = 5, 105.000, 0.00, -3.00, fx_landing,

That is a flag used to trigger an .fx "blob of light" to simulate sealed beams. It cannot be used to "project a ground splash" of light that will illuminate the ground.

However, Chuck Jodry of JPL has perfected a technique to create a polygon in Max/GMax to which a semi-transparent texture may be applied along with an emissive texture (aka: xxx_L.bmp) to simulate a "landing or taxi light beam..."
