• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ortho for FSX and P3D

Hello.

I have autoortho for X Plane and found Ortho for P3D v4.

I've have Ortho installed and working, but after adding the new ortho scenery to P3D I have no autogen. Must have did something wrong.

Is there a way to have the autogen with the ortho tiles?

I'm not familiar with Ortho for P3D, bit most of these tools only make the photoreal scenery. Once you load that the default landclass autogen is suppressed. So you'll have to make autogen for the photoreal scenery as well.

Thank for the reply.

Trees are showing, radio towers and some buildings.

What would I need to edit the autogen?

If you see trees I guess there is autogen already. Are there any agn files in the texture folder?

As far as I know, Ortho4XP for P3D also creates autogen (if desired) - but only on the basis of OpenStreetMap data with an "All for One" ScenProc script.
This sometimes looks better, sometimes worse, but mostly the latter.

To edit the autogen, you need either the Autogen Annotator from the P3D SDK (for small areas) or ScenProc (for larger areas)

It should be part of the Ortho for P3D, as far as I know it is not available seperately.

It tries to generate AGN from OSM data. So the quality really depends on how good the OSM data is for that area.

Hello and thank you for the help.

Ortho was working fairly well, but just for a little bit of the Central Valley of California was 120 gigs. I can see why FS2020 streams the scenery. I was hoping to inject some new life into P3D, but while Ortho is nice, it's not practical.

Other than Orbx, I don't think there's much else, so I'm going to let this project go for now.

Again thank you for the help!
