Of course with P3D v5 and ADE 1.79, we can now have sloped runways. I was going to write "sloped airports" but it looks like aprons cannot be "sloped" they seem to remain flat. Could you guys please confirm that?
I have been trying to edit LFKC airport (which by default lies flat at about 210'). One runway end is at 210' but the other runway end lies at 65' so it is a perfect opportunity to make a sloped runway.
Creating the sloped runway in itself is not difficult (although in places, some textures are bleeding through sometimes) but incorporating aprons is a nightmare.
At LFKC (and other airports) the main apron lies alongside the runway and is quite stretched. This means one end is probably at about 150 feet and the other at almost 210 feet. Without being able to "slope" the apron, the apron creates a "plateau" and strange terrain "shapes" in the scenery as it does not blend properly with the rest of the scenery.
Is there a way around that?
I am possibly not using the correct technique but it looks like unless the apron is at the top or the bottom of the airport (and remains flat) then sloped airports cannot be achieved.
So unless it is an airport like Lukla, Courchevel or Alpe D'huez (which are sloped by default in v5) with only one apron at the top of the airport, then you cannot create a sloped airport.
Let me know what you think, or if you have any tips.
Thanks.
