• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Painted lines - taxi, edge lines, etc - can we create a custom texture sheet for custom lines?

Does anyone have a solution for the texture downsampling? It looks terrible

Hi
You can't increase the resolution - maybe in the future with the ultra-ultra settings this can be increased.
What I did find is that the colour bleeding that sometimes occurs with multicoloured lines can be somewhat reduced if you dial down the input intensity (making you lines like70% opacity for instance). I don't think it makes a lot of a difference at the edges though.
Making the different components of your composite line a bit wider helps as well (like 20cm+)

You can blend as you like, with 80% I found that certain yes certain no, it depends on the color

the RGB alpha channels are 3 then the PNG has transparency as a channel, I don't have channel masks.
But if they don't go well, trash them, I got this result

They look great! - can you drop a copy of the file that you are using please so we can get the same results as you

I don't think anyone's interested anymore. They are all geared towards much nicer Projected Meshes. Thank you for appreciation. 👍

I would absolutely LOVE to have these line files either. I don't care what sort of projected mesh you use, we NEED better lines that can be used for our projects.

hi , seems in SU10 BETA, now we have EDGE_SOLID_ORTHO!!!~
BUT where could we find the DDS file so we can modify it?

...Optional material
thanks for your reply!

i find it here

and i realize that i can not creat a ORTHO with a shorter wide yellow:whiteflag

Very simple method is:

1) Download and Install the free version of Paint.Net

2) Open the Asobo default DDS file in Paint.Net, on my PC it is
D:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-2307000864-3433140670-2775171081-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\fs-base\texture\taxiway_marks.dds

3) Now you can simply adjust Hue-Saturation and Brightness and Contrast, and re-save the file as a DDS, it will even work just saving it as Paint.Net's DEFAULT DDS setting
The color you see in the editor will likely not exactly match the exact end-result, but it doesn't take much to adjust and test.

4) In MSFS, create a new material or edit an existing one, and assigned the modified texture.
Now you probably have most of the textures you need and they all match color-wise in one shot.

Note that if editing an existing material and because the MSFS editor is such a PITA, you will likely have to click back and forth to see the new texture...
