• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Parts not displaying

Hi,
I am trying to convert a CFS2 ship into FSX for my own amusement but some of the parts don't seem to display although I can see them in wireframe mode.

The parts are not textured just a solid brown colour
this is the wireframe view

And this is what I see in MCX (and the Sim) when textures are enabled

I've tried messing around with the line extrude radius in the Importer Settings, it helps but still doesn't really fix the issue.

Is there a relatively easy way to fix this or am I out of luck

Thanks
Gavin

Since you see it in wireframe view, I would first check if the material is not transparant or so.

Hi,
No the material isn't transparent. Some of the parts textured with the material colour are displaying (ie the tops of the exhaust stacks and the post for the rear most radar) even tho others aren't showing up.

Here is the wireframe with the material highlighted

and the same with textures displayed

I have tried changing the colour and assigning the material a texture to no avail.

thanks
Gavin

Would you be able to share the model so I can have a look what's going on?

Hi,

Those are lines indeed. But it seems they are scaled down afterwards. If I increase the line extrude radius in de settings I see them better, but not all with the same width.

Yes, that is the same behaviour I am seeing. To get them all to display I need to set the extrude radius to something ridiculous like 100. At which point some of the lines are so thick that they blend together.

Oh well. Not really a big deal I was just messing around for my own amusement anyway.

Thanks for looking into it Arno.

Gavin
