PayPal - which account?

Hi there!

I'm thinking of getting a PayPal account. But which is th right one for me?

I want to be able to get some donations for my sceneries and getting cheques is not the right way - 15 € cheque and 7 € fees :(

I don't know if I should take the premium account or if the personal is enough ...

I'm sure, some of you have experience with them, can you give me a hint?

Hi Georg,

for my (non-existing :D) donations for Flyways I use a premium-account. I think it's a good balance, for you have almost no costs and people can use creditcard or, erm, what's it called in english: "Überweisung"? :o

Seems likely. :)

I think credit card and transfer are the two common pay options, aren't they?

I think most folks prefer credit card or transfer. Not much is done by check or money order these days. As bad as they can be, most folks are safer with a credit card than they are sharing their checking account info online. There's at least a process to contest fraudulent charges with credit cards.

Just about anyone can get a credit card these days (though the interest rates can vary enormously and there are those who've got too many maxed out cards in which case a check would be risky to accept too).

Hi Georg,

The main difference is that if you have a personal account that people can not sent money directly from their credit card. They would have to transfer it to their PayPal funds first, before they can send it to you. Also I think there were some other limits on the amount you can receive (it is all explained rather well on the website).

I first started with a personal account, but once I really decided I wanted an easy way to accept donations from this site I upgraded as well.
