• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 PHJH Kapalua West Maui Airport

Sean, thanks for your continuing interest.

I decided to include the rooftop Hyatt Regency Maui Heliport (HI50) in the scenery. For that reason, I am working on putting much more detail into the Hyatt resort models. This will delay completion of the project. And, it is hockey playoffs.....

Here is a Gmax WIP rendering of the top part of the Hyatt tower with the helipad.

Finally finished the main models for the Hyatt resort, including the Lahaina Tower with the helipad. I need to do some more texture work and then the last resort tower on the beach front. I will then return to putting the final touches on the airport itself. So, the scenery will include two airports - PHJH Kapalua-West and the HI50 Hyatt Helipad. Inching closer to completion!

A quick update for anyone still following progress on this project. The Kaanapali Beach area is more or less done. A few more smaller buildings to fill in here and there, as well as some more trees. Many of the trees are custom trees based on photos I took Maui I'm back to the airport now working on some finishing touches. I've finished the AWOS station and models of the FEDEX vehicles typically seen at the airport. Here are a couple screen shots.

Cheers,
Greg

I almost don't believe it is designed for FS9, wonderful work my friend!

All the best,
Sergio.

The scenery is being tested now and is very close to completion.

Here is another glimpse of PHJH airport, which was the original impetus for doing this scenery. If you've followed this thread you will know there was a bit project creep to the point where the finished scenery captures about 170 square km of West Maui, including most of the hotels and resorts in a 12 km strip along the coast. If you are interested in more screens of the project I've posted some at the end of this link.

Thank you Sergio.

The scenery is now available at AVSIM. I will upload it to Flightsim.com when I get a chance. Thank you to everyone who showed interest in this project, and to the FSDeveloper community for its patience answering my FS2004 questions even though nearly everyone has moved on.

Just saw it in the AVSIM library. Already a couple of hundred downloads. Not surprised. I'm sure it is a real treat for FS2004 simmers to get something of this caliber so late in the game. Congrats!

Incredible stuff..what did u use for vegetation? also how did you do the airport background..those photoreal textures in Fs9? Im just starting to build sceneries for fs9. Cheers!

Hi Gregory,

Short Question: I remember that this scenery has formerly been done to work with UT Hawaii…

What was the Solution to get rid of the Default buildings in the Water again, when running the Scenery without UT Hawaii?

just create exclusion with another nearby airport. use the one from lanai and create exclusions on those buildings, that worked for me. if you want i can pass you the file later when i get home. let me know.

That d' be great... thanks in advance.

I ended up just playing with the actual AFCAD of the airport and added the exclusions. i also modified it to my liking. back up the original first. Enjoy.
