• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Photoreal Scenery Problem

I created 5 photoreal scenery tiles with SBuilderX background and compiler of Kaneohe Bay HI yesterday and tried to correlate an MAIW scenery wit. When I first opened it up in FSX, the runway and taxiways were not aligned with the photoreal scenery but that is often the case with FSX and real world I have found in the past. I took a screenshot and opened up in ADEx and moved the runway onto the position on the photoreal tile. Great. Saved and compiled it and replaced the bgl. Opened up FSX and it was still out of position only in a different place. After doing this four times, I gave up at midnight with less hair after puling some out. LOL! Why is it doing this and is there a way to fix it or do I have to recreate the entire airport from scratch starting with a GoogleEarth image and ADEx?

The only way I have been creating these is by "Background" "Compile" instant photoreal scenery after I have found the image so as knowing even less than a "Novice" I don't understand what you said at all. I watched a few tutorials and they confused me even more. I also started NOT trying to use MAIW's scenery but opened up the default airport in FSX and downloaded satellite images for placement and when to test I made an airport and added my 5 photoreal images the runway was STILL not aligned but I didn't try realignment. At this moment I feel like I have better things to do than get frustrated like fly for a while. Maybe I will come back OR NOT. Thank you for taking the time to answer this even though this minute its over my head.

What I endeavored to convey above, is one must configure SBuilderX for either making custom photo-real imagery BGLs, or ADE backgrounds

By editing the SBuilderX.ini file parameter:

ReprojectMercatorTiles

...between:

* True (used for making 'compiled' custom photo-real imagery BGLs; this is 'warped' relative to IRL, but FS 'un-warps' it onto terrain at run time)

...or:

* False (used for making imagery Background maps for ADE and/or 3D modeling; this is 'non-warped' relative to IRL)

...you will end up with imagery correctly positioned / oriented / scaled / shaped for either task.

I only had a brief moment to reply, so my post above was intended only to derive a IRL background image for use in ADE for aligning RWYs to IRL.

Feel free to inquire further if / when you are ready, as there is a lot more help to be had here from friendly folks at FSDev forum on your topic. :)

You may wish to review the ADE Manual (the PDF for version 1.65 covers most features through 1.79x):

Exclude and then Replace. :pushpin:

To use ADE for local Land Class mods to default or OrbX FTX replacement Land Class scenery, please also see Jim Vile's tutorial: :teacher:

I have had lots and lots of help here from very many good, knowledgeable people. I didn't need ADEx background images. I get those from Google Earth or other sattelite sources. Thank you. I will get back to you and try again in a few weeks. The rest of the month is quickly getting busy in RL.
