• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I am seeking some clarification regarding PolygonHoles and Hydro_Polygons.

It is my impression that a PolygonHole must follow a Hydro-Polygon so that it nows which water to attach to.

Where I am having problems is with some PolygonHoles not showing up.

It would seem, from the results I get, that in the same directory only one Hydro_Polygon can be used for PolygonHoles.

In the attached picture the Hydro_Poly "6SpiderIsland" shows up.
Unfortunately the "6island1" and "6island2" PolygonHoles do not show up.

Further down the "1SpiderIsland" HydroPoly shows up and so do the "1island1 to 5" PolygonHoles" beneath it.

As all PolygonHoles are following a Hydro_Poly, why do some show up and not others?

Seeing as how you have multiple 'sea' polys, and polygon holes you may want to arrange your project into folders...

Using your naming conventions try...

Folder 1 - name : 876 Folder

Contents :
8SL Tag - Hydro
7SL Tag - Hydro
6SL Tag - Hydro
6 island2 Tag - polyhole
6 island Tag - polyhole

This means that the polyholes 'know' what hydros to cookiecut.

Folder 2 - name 54321 Folder

Contents
5SL Tag - Hydro
4SL Tag - Hydro
3SL Tag - Hydro
2SL Tag - Hydro
1SL Tag - Hydro
5 island Tag - polyhole
4 island Tag - polyhole
3 island Tag - polyhole
2 island Tag - polyhole
1 island Tag - polyhole

After that lot - comes the icing on the cake...
Folder 3 name Shorelines - Tag Shorelines_Generic_Lake

Contents:

8 island
7 island
6 island
5 island
4 island
3 island
2 island
1 island

So takehome message : SpiderLake folder can contain multiple subfolders so that you can arrange the 'water' areas and 'their' own respective polyholes, within 'them' as you please...

After that lot has been done, things like roads, rivers etc etc can be 'superimposed'...
