• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Probably know the answer to this one...

Well, found out the hard way my data backups did not include my GMAX scenes since the end of March so now I have a bunch of development that I was working on where I have the finished model files but not the GMAX scenes. I'm pretty sure I'm screwed here but can't hurt to ask. Is there anyway to recreate GMAX scene files from the asm or .mdl files?

I sure hate to think about recreating all the work I did again. My texture work is done since I saved the .bmp files on the drive I actually backed up so it'll be a bit easier but I'm really dreading this.

As you say: that's the hard way to find out... :duck:

I don't think there is a way, for I also had the problem of a corrupt GMax-file once.
You'll have to rework it or live with the mdl you have now.

Me too. I found out the hard way that we need to use the incremental optiom while saving.

Kindly,

Yeah Incremental update is an excelent idea :)
In case you have extra space or maybe an external disk/usb flash drive .... you can make a batch file [bat file] that copies automaticaly all the files that need to be backed up automatically.

At least now you won't do the same mistake twice :duck:
