• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

MSFS Problem making changes with MCX in a modelLib.bgl

Hi,

so I took one of my (I'm the author) non-pbr P3D scenery object libraries bgl and exported/compiled it with MCX to MSFS standards, which went like a breeze, very good. Upon checking the results I noticed that the objects looked very dark and upon further investigation I found that they had some pbr properties assigned (is pbr mat=true and metalness=1). So I went and changed the values to false/0 for all the 78 objects in the modelLib.bgl manually, re-exported it and ... same same. I think I did that 3 times now and can rule out user induced lunacy. Am I missing something? A flag I missed that overrides my changes when exporting/compiling?

TIA,
Mark

Hi,

MSFS objects can only have PBR materials, so the setting you changed has no effect for MSFS and is ignored on export.

Oh OK, thank you Arno, then I have to have a look at my workflow in order to get the conversion of the non pbr textures/ material settings right. I hoped - because of the number of the objcets - that this would be a bit less intensive. Wishful thinking, obviously.

I will need to set up a good conversion workflow to get the proper results.

Best,
Mark
