Problem with CAT

Hi,

I have this problem:

- when I export my model from Gmax (with animation) to FS2004 directly without pass by CAT the object is visible in all his parts and the animation (as normal) is in loop;
- when I export same model from Gmax to FS2004 after compiled it by CAT, I see only some parts of the Object in FS2004.....Why? :banghead:

who is anyone helps me?

I think that the problem would be in CAT process or in config of MAKEMDL...?

thanks

Hi Lucio,

Is this the same object that you send me before? As I did not notice trouble with it on my PC? Or do you have this with a different object?

problem

Hi Arno,

The object is the same...BUT when I compiled it in my PC I have this problem ...When I set put the same object (it is that you sent me yesterday)...is all normal...
Another thing....I tried to this with another PC...with the same programs (FS2004, Gmax, makemdl...CAT...etc.)....I did all process (Make Gmax Model, export it, CAT, ObjPlacer, ...bgl ---> FS2004...is all right!!

Curious thing is that if I put a object in the scenery without CAT compilation in the FS2004 is visible in all his parts...with animation loop !!

OK, so probably it is something with a setting in your GMax or somewhere on your computer.

Can you sent me the source code again of the object you exported on your PC? Then I can compare it with the source code GMax made here for me.

problem

Ok...Arno...in attach my files

problem

Hi Arno,

the files that I sent with last message in attach, are not those of yesterday..anyway this model in my PC is showed in FS2004 only some parts...(as I told you before) while in the PC that I'm using now is all correct..

bye

Hi Lucio,

I noticed that the model is different indeed. But I can't see much strange.

Maybe a strange idea, but have you tried to watch the model in FS while in slew mode? When no materials are applied to a scene sometimes objects dissapear. When you watch in slew mode everything should be there. Putting materials on it might also help.

..ok...but Why in this PC that I'm using now (FS2004 no Patch) the object and the anim is complete and ok...and in the mine no...I see only some parts and no the parts with anim?
If I put the same object without to pass through CAT the animation goes in loop but the object is complete..?

Solve

ARNO!!

I found the error...it is in CAT limitation...

if you leave the Coma in international setup you have the error ( you don't see some prts of object) ..I change the coma in point and it is all right!

thanks for all

bye

Lucio

Hi Lucio,

That is interesting, as I thought I had fixed that in one of the updates. Thanks for not giving up on this problem and finding the error.

I will try to export your object here with both settings (comma and dot) and compare the source code to see where it goes wrong.

Frames

Well....now I like to know how can I solve a problem with the number of frames in CAT...so:

- When I make a animation in Gmax I set (example) 100 frames;
- the object (a terminal) has the some parts that their moviments ends spent 15 frames and not 100.... the rest, instead, as the "bridge", ends his rotation at the 100th frame...ex: Wheels round immediately and not at 100th frame and at half of number of frames of animation...theu go back right....ok?

...Now ...how can I set the same number of frame to avoid the error of CAT?....(I want anyway let the animation as I did it in Gmax...)

can you help me?

thanks

For the animations that use less frames, you need to make sure that another keyframe is added for the last frame. Even though this frame has the same position as for example frame 15.

problem with the number of frames

Sorry Arno,

but I don't understand the solve about the correct number of frames that I must set into Gmax animation before to export to avoid the error in CAT

....can you explain me again?

thanks

Hi Lucio,

I found the reason for the dot/comma problem. I am working on a fix now and it will be included in the next version of CAT.
