• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Realistic Missles

Hi everyone,
Although i have almost zero knowledge on programming or editing of files, im attempting to undertake a project.

i want to use a missle addon that i downloaded from the web, and add a property to the cfg file that would make it so that if it comes into contact with another aircraft, it causes engine failure/fire to all engines of that aircraft.

i dont know if this is specifically possible, but i have fspassengersx and the flak effect does basically the same thing, so i assume it is possible.

Any help to guide me in the right direction to change the cfg file of the missle or if theres anything else i need to do would be greatly appreciated!

If this subject has already been addressed, i didnt see it in my searches. A link to it would be great
Thanks!

Weapon damage modeling is not included in FSX.
It would have to be created by programming a module using SimConnect. There's no other way.

Ok thanks Heretic,
i guess its a dead end for me since i have no idea how to even start programming a module through simconnect. ill put a thread on project recruiting to see if someones else can help me.

However, if any one has any further knowledge as to start this project, pleas let me know!

Thanks everyone!

This isn't going to work.

If you really want to have your damage module, you WILL have to do it yourself. You can recruit someone to team up with or to assist you in the process, but you WILL have to actively contribute (on a code basis)!

As this isn't easy to do, no one is going to do it for you entirely on his/her own! (At least not for free.)

Reading about general C++ programming (Google) and studying the SimConnect SDK along with the samples provided might be a good start.
We all started from scratch a long time ago
