• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Really new to Airport design - AutoGen Exclusion

Something I seem to get a sense of is that ADE will not connect to FS9 as AFcad2 does which I previously used many moons ago before I got ADE 170. You have misunderstood what I was saying about ez-scenery as I want to first exclude stock scenery (not with ez-scenery) and then replace with ez-scenery objects. Way back when, there was a program that seems to me that flawlessly did exclusions. I have placed excludes in the scenery file also, but with with the advent of win10 and other advances in airport design software I have yet to have the light bulb come on. I feel I have accomplished some things but am no closer to my objective than I was with the beginning of this whole conversation. I appreciate your patience (for I am not a spring chicken by any means, but have been simming forever) having retired two years ago I want to enhance my simming experience. I know there are many thing in the libraries that can just be downloaded, but I want to be able to do it also.

Hi Simon:

ADE does connect automatically with FS9 or FSX after both ADE and FSUIPC are installed except in very rare circumstances, and IIRC, I have not seen a case such as this in many years where ADE would not connect automatically with FS9 or FSX.

I was one such case, but I don't recall what all the circumstances were at the time (10 years ago ?).

I doubt that the "official" FSUIPC support forum would be as friendly or patient as FSDeveloper, but unless someone else replies here with an intent to troubleshoot this to the very end, you may need to take the issue up with the FSUIPC forum at simFlight.

But, before you give up on getting ADE to connect with FS9, I suggest that you download / install / try the latest ADE version:

In light of your latter explanation, you would indeed be well served in achieving your goals of first exclude stock scenery by using ADE in FS9 mode to create Exclusion Rectangles.

You could also use AFX, SBuilder for FS9 (aka "SB205"), or Exclude Builder, although they all have their own learning curves.

You can then replace stock objects with "ez-scenery" (BGLComp scenery library) objects using EZ-Scenery or Instant Scenery.

I have come to this late but I seem to recall that one of the messages concerned to wrong version of the sim. Has anyone suggested turning off the check ADE makes before it tries to connect?

Look at Settings > Options > General Tab

If Connect Only to Matching FS Ver is checked then try unchecking it. Also a copy of the log with the errors in it might be helpful. https://scruffyduck.screenstepslive...8/l/199769-how-do-i-send-you-the-ade-log-file If all this has been covered then please accept my apologies and I will go back under my stone :)

Hi Jon:

AFAIK, thus far nobody recommended that procedure in this thread, but it certainly merits testing. :)

FYI: It is apparent, however, that Simon has both FS2004 and FSX-Steam Edition installed in their default folder paths, and that FSUIPC had successfully installed into both versions of FS ...as of his latest attached FSUIPC log files above (FSUIPC 3.x for FS9 and FSUIPC 5.x for FSX_SE).

IIUC, your process above may help test ADE connectivity to FSUIPC (even if connected via FSX Steam) ? :scratchch

Well gentlemen it appears it has gone from bad to worse. I typically run FS9 with my internet connection turned off. Last evening it was on, a ADE update dialog popped up, I updated and ADE won't run (error attached) and I have zipped the Scruffy duck folders in app data to see if there is a clue. Is there a log I could also send? ADE won't run though. At the moment I am going to roll it back by running Windows in Safe mode and re-installing ADE 175.

Gary - there is a flag associated with the code to connect to FSUIPC. The code (which is not mine) will check the version of the Sim that ADE ls loaded for and create a connection for that sim. This really applies to older sims like FS9 and FSX. However setting the property as suggested above will stop this check. So if ADE is saying the sim version is wrong it is likely to come from this code. The error message can be stopped by unchecking the setting as suggested above

Well Gentlemen, I checked most file that should and found none that were blocked. I did however dig out my old laptop (windows 7 SP ??) to see if there were any problems as I am experiencing with my Windows 10 laptop and there were none but I did find that I can not take a scenery .bgl from that machine and use in on my FS9 sim on the Windows 10 machine. Ummm, what to do, what to do.

Do you mean a custom ADE FS9 mode airport BGL from the Win-7 computer will not load in a FS9 flight on the Win-10 computer ?

Can ADE FS9 mode "Open airport from BGL" load a custom airport BGL from ADE on the Win-7 computer ? :scratchch

Thanks all! I am going to use FSX SE as my main sim and I am having no troubles with it. Again thank you for all of your time and attention.
