• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS refreshing fs2020

I can tell you that it is a pain in the ass to have to restart flightsim every time you make an edit in ADE. Maybe I am missing something, but are they a way to refresh flightsim so you want have to shut it down every time?
Edit in ADE.
Save the project from ADE.
If the project is open in sim dev mode, close the project in sim dev mode Project Manager (no need to exit the sim).
[Re-]Open the project in sim dev mode.

You do not need to stop the sim, but the sim dev mode does not track changes to the project xml file (which are made in ADE). It is necessary for the sim to read the [changed] project xml file to recognize and apply any changes made in ADE. (And the same in reverse, ADE must [re-]open the project to read changes made in sim dev mode.)

Might be useful to read section 31 from the ADE manual, wherein it states "If you save the project in Dev Mode and reload it in ADE or vice versa then you are manually syncing the two..."

Well, I am not using the DEV mode at all.
There may be other ways but the Dev Mode as described above is the easiest way to see your changes in ADE. This is achieved using Two Way Editing in Alpha 19. You don't need to know much about how Dev Mode works just to see the changes you are making in ADE.
