• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSX Remove FSX default Island?

Hello guys,

Is there a way I can remove a default FSX Island so that I can create a new one above?

As you can see in my screenshot below, my satellite scenery doesn't exactly cover the default FSX scenery resulting in parts of the default FSX scenery being shown below mine as well.

All of the world in FSX is land, with water added to form islands, shorelines, etc. If you want to redo an island area you must exclude the water surrounding the land mass and then add the water back to conform to your new island shape.
don't forget to also exclude any other vector layers in particular shorelines, maybe best to use the exclude all terrain.

Recommend looking at the default cvx file in tmfviewer to see how much water area you must replace when you exclude the hydro polys. I think most devs ignore the "gps hydros".

Indeed... the GPS Hydro Polys aka "WaterPolyGPS" cannot be 'excluded' in FSX IIUC due to unfinished coding at RTM:

Believe it or not, I just today (6 years later ! :yikes:) discovered your latter post to this thread.

I have not yet tried this method to see if it will work; if it does, then IIUC, those who have the "Modified Terrain.Cfg (which is installed by default with SBuilderX) ...would have the option to utilize this type of "smaller" CVX vector exclude polygon.:scratchch

And IIUC, 3rd party end users of any such publicly distributed CVX vector "exclude" BGLs would also need to have the "Modified Terrain.Cfg" installed ...to achieve the intended scenery display made possible by use of the "Legacy_LWM_Water_NoFlatten" hydro poly GUID. :alert:
