• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Removing buildings in default airport.

Hi All. First post.

Here is what I am trying to accomplish. The default airport at where I want to operate placed a huge hangar type building on what is the main parking ramp. When I look at the satellite photo from bing, I understand why. The concrete in that area is very very white, and unless one looks closely, it almost looks like the top of a building. I want that building removed so I can use it as a ramp.

So I've been doing some reading about the airport editor and it is my understanding that we can't yet really edit the default airport objects, so what we have to do is remove the entire default airport, create our own new one, and then add the items we want to that airport. I guess in short, we can "add", but not "remove" without starting from scratch.

I have been able to add, ie, put some aircraft on a ramp, so I have already gone through the process of package building so I think I understand that part.

As far as removing the current airport, I seem to have accomplished something close to that by creating a new airport over the entire old one and clicking the "remove" check boxes and all the available items. When I reloaded, everything was gone except for those darn hangers and buildings that were sitting on the ramp areas. I just cannot figure out how to make those hangers and other buildings go away.

So since I am new at this, and ultimately, I want to learn to edit airports, this is the very first thing I want to learn.......

Can someone please explain how to remove a default airport completely, buildings and all?

Thanks,

Larry

Exclusion Rectangle covering the area and set to exclude library objects ,generic buildings and whatever is in the way. To get rid of everything use exclude all

Thanks for the response.

I tried the Exclusion Rectangle yesterday and no matter what I did, the building would continue to regenerate. I tried again today, same thing. So I just started messing with different things and I finally found something that worked.

I drew a regular rectange around the building, but I applied the "terraform noBuilding" property. Right there in the editor I saw the building vanish and it stayed away. So I built the project, threw it into the community folder and on the next fresh load, no building, and I have my GA ramp.

Step 1 complete. Now time to just fly before I try my next task.

Use a polygon click add and make sure `one tick placing' is ticked then click where you want the poly to start by holding the left Ctrl and press the left mouse button, continue this until it's completed. Then with your mouse on the poly click `properties, then tick exclude all. Save and it should work

Same experience removing a default autogen airport tower. Exclusion rectangle did not work, not did a polygon with all exclusion options checked. The only thing that worked was a regular rectangle with the noBuilding property set. Poof, default tower removed, leaving room for my custom-built object.
