• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Removing grass skirt paired with custom shoreline texture?

Hello,
I have been working on redoing the shoreline textures for my Solomon Islands scenery. I'm replacing the old beach textures with a custom version that fades into the water a bit better. However, I have noticed that although I used the original beach texture file (scaled to a higher resolution) and layout as a base to work on, my shorelines all have a grass skirting beneath them (Whereas the original did not). Is there a way to remove this so that my shorelines will blend how I intended them to?

I'll throw this up to the top once again. Still haven't figured this one out.

Hi Chris:

I did not reply to this query originally because at first, it was unclear what you were referring to.

Now I 'may' understand better.

Have you factored in the stripwidthinmeters issue with default texture mapping / repeat tiling as a 'Material' onto CVX vector line objects ?

If you post here, the GUID and definition info you added as a custom entry to Terrain.Cfg, we might be better able to sort this out. :scratchch

PS: I replied to your other (3D modeling) query here:

Hi Gary.
For a bit of clarification, I have not added a new entry to the terrain.cfg. I am "overwriting" a default shoreline texture with a new HD texture by placing it in my (Project)\Texture folder.

To create this new texture, I used the default as a layout example. The texture(s) are aligned just as the original were. The only differences would be the width of the individual sand textures on the texture sheet (Possibly a slight difference), the reworked alpha channel and the increased resolution of the texture sheet itself.

I saw your post on the other thread, but have yet to find the time to work on that model again. I will probably look at it again this weekend.

Thanks!
