• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SDK Crash when click on build package

Loaded up my existing project, few days ago everything was fine.
Now if I click on build or using fspackagetool, it simply crash. Is there a log somewhere?
at fspackagetool window I see it is converting the textures before the CTD, but everything was fine few days ago, now I cant build what was built before without any issues....
everything is up to date.
Any ideas where to start?

I'm getting CTD's as well. I had a Windows 10 update, and I think that might be the root problem. Reinstalling both the sim and the SDK.

It seems this may have been the problem. Steam validated, Official folder recopied, sim updated, SDK uninstalled and reinstalled, reboot computer, and all is now working. Polys, aerials, objects and airports. I really do hate this process. It's much worse that tweaking FSX. :banghead:

For me the scenery editor crashes everytime when first start MSFS + dev mode + open project.

After second start everything runs well (except polygon functions).

thank you, will try to uninstall and install the sdk again.

oh lol, got the problem. if custom objects is above 125 fspackagetool / sdk will crash (at least for me).
so I have to split the scenery....
funny thing, few days ago it has no problem with it :(

I am having the same issue. I have built 10 airports and 3 of them are CTD when building the package. I opened two tickets with Zendesk about this and sent them the Windows event log for each. I hope they get this fixed. I even went in to one of the projects and removed the polygons and then built it and got the CTD. I then started it back up and removed just the aprons, same result. I removed all the custom scenery, same result. Then I removed everything except the runway and it still CTD on build.

Are you talking about 125 objects in a modellib? I would think 127 makes more sense to a programmer. 7F hex.

I am having the same issue, it happens since last week, but not all airports have this ctd crash when click build, just some, any solution until now ?

I found the problem that was causing my CTD on package build. I have a model that I made of a parking T (see attached). The white area of the image is transparent (it's actually a .png image. This graphic image is used as a texture on a flat plane and that is placed on the ground. In P3D I would elevate this model about 1" above the ground to prevent flickering. I took my P3D model and remade it for FS2020 but something about it causes this CTD when I build the package. I used this model in about 10 airports but only had CTD issues in 3-4. Of the ones that did CTD, when I removed the model, they all worked fine. I hope Asobo does a better job of error trapping/handling in the build event.

As a side note, because of this CTD issue I started making a backup copy of my airport each time I successfully built it. That way if I started experiencing the CTD, I would just roll back to the last good copy. I probably don't need it now but I am going to keep doing it as it is insurance.

Good evening,
I also had a CTD problem on my current project, the first time trying to compile it, but especially afterwards when I was trying to load the BGL in the editor.

After trying all the solutions proposed above, I discovered that in my case the myscene.scn was corrupted by certain elements:
To save time on painted lines, I duplicated then duplicated the duplicate etc ... I discovered that it works up to 6 copy max.

BUG.png

After removing the duplicates which exceeded this limit on the myscene.scn via notepad, no more problems I was able to recover my scene.

The problem with (copy) (copy) (copy) (copy) (copy) (copy)... is well known as a bug in the latest version of the MSFS DevMode. The cure is to use a text editor on the XML, and delete all occurrences of (copy)

Thank you for this clarification.
I did not know that this problem was already well known, when I faced my CTD problem, this topic is almost the only one that I found that spoke about it. I wanted to share my case, if it can help anyone like many of yours also helped me.

I'm not a scenery builder, an aircraft builder.
but I have same issue when build.
where exactly the file that contain of "(copy) (copy) (copy) (copy) (copy) (copy)...."
thanks
