• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

The problem with a missing console window seems to have been fixed. My reservation is that the first time I used it with the MS edition I got the sim opening as well as the dialog I closed it and the next time I ran a build the console dialog opened but the sim did not.

Using Steam it appeared to work correctly. Short dialog on Steam 'opening' then the expected dialog and nothing else

It is good that it now works again without the modification.
I have a question though. How can you check the contents for as soon as the compile finishes, which is very quickly, it disappears from the screen. If there are any compilation errors how can I check for them?

The console should not disappear until you hit any key after it completes

Please confirm that you uninstalled the SDK 15 and then installed the new SDK 16?

Hi Jon.
When did SDK 16 come out? I downloaded 15 last week and just ran the installer (.msi). I didn't know you needed to uninstall previous versions.

16 came out with SU7. It is much safer to remove previous versions of the SDK and dangerous to over write one version with the next. SDK 16 fixes the problems with the package tool introduced in SU6/SDK 15. It is also generally important to use the latest SDK with the latest Sim Update (SUx)

At the time when I clicked on Help>SDK installer (core) last Tuesday all I got was version 15. Woops yes the MSFS was on Saturday if I remember correctly.
I guess I need to always check if there is a newer version of SDK with every MSFS2020 update?
I guess non MS products can't be relied on to overwrite previous versions like Windows updates does.

Yep and yep - and the sim will tell you if there is a SDK update in the top right hand corner of the display
