• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

For all who are waiting for it, even if I am currently working on Project Russia-Eurasia, ETNL Rostock (not available in MSFS) is in the pipeline and started.

Below you can see the aerial photo in high resolution in LOD 20

But it will take time to finish the place according to my requirements, because it will contain both the civil and the military area completely and as authentic as possible.

This will be no small thing, because the aerial photo alone will require 1.5 GB.

So, all beginnings are hard when there is nothing in MSFS. I have now installed and adjusted the aerial photo, the runway and today freshly both ILS. There is no possibility to install ILS and Glideslope ingame in dev mode. So you have to do some real manual work in the XML and especially the adjustment afterwards to match it with my aerial picture. It works now in both directions.

Here the approach to the 09

Tomorrow I will continue with the approaches, which are also inserted by hand.

Just like Real ILS Calibration :) MSFS is definitely being as Real as it Gets!

I heard the next SDK update will includes different construction vehicles for Developers to makes their airports :P

Definitely right.
The problem is, however, that MSFS does not offer any data on places it does not know, and these can only be generated by direct code in xml, because the SDK also does not offer anything for retrofitting in dev modus.

ILS, Com, Navids, Approaches for ILS, RNAV, VOR/DME , GPS. Nothing is inside. I have build by myself.

Unfortunately, I have a completely different view of the reality of the MSFS, but this is not the intention of a showroom. Reality in flight simulation is more then optic for me.

Today there is a picture directly from the development. The civil area (top left) is finished with all taxiways and ground.

In the military area (bottom right) I started and will probably finish tomorrow.

Monday I had "generously" declared that I would soon be through. But I changed my concept once again.
The entire military area is fully usable.

Here the parking overview

Parkings.JPG

In the whole area more than 10km of road network are realized with PBR textures. At the same time, transparency has been incorporated in order to be able to use the pollution of the aerial photo.

All textures have flowing falloff to the ground and to each other.

Here from close up

Nevertheless, the high-resolution texture is not sterile from the plane at the parking lot or while taxiing.

Until the end of the week I still have to deal with the ground.

The ground is now completely finished including all taxilights and everything else
The Terminal is placed, even if it was not easy to implement the transparency. I had to make a few small concessions, but only I notice that.

Here are the pictures of the terminal

Great work! One question: On picture 3 one can see the ground crew having a weird shadow around - are the people just appetizers and added afterwards?

I think that's the MSFS runtime ambient occlusion. It does seem quite strong in a lot of scenarios. As a guess I think it's computed at a lower resolution (half/quarter res) for performence so you see some artefacts around objects like on the people to the right.

These are the aerosol settings from the weather of the MSFS. I had forgotten to set them to 1. Everything else is hardly usable. Unfortunately all this also affects the ground and ground objects, especially if they are small. From picture 4 on I had changed the setting

ETNL Rostock v1.1 released

Unfortunately it was necessary to recompile Rostock completely after the last MSFS update. It must therefore also be completely re-downloaded.
The MSFS has unfortunately destroyed my SDK fair, but own Lightsystem.

It looks like this:

In this simulator, it's probably better not to use your own brain, but rather to place lamps, lights and buildings like Lego bricks, or to get the content directly from Google. I'm sure we'll see more surprises there.

Anyway I recompiled it and now it is ready in version 1.1..........until next time.
Everything is fine again.

You just have to download it completely It is available in two parts in the filebase.(Registration required)
