• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX SODE objects do not load until a few meters away on approach to airport.

TLDR; Objects load fine if you start of at the airport and remain visible when you leave, but do not load back when returning to the airport until you are a few hundred meters away.

This is a new problem from a 3 year old product of mine. First user to ever report it but I am stumped.
The runway and apron in the picture below is an SODE object. On first load all is fine, but if you fly a couple miles away from the airport SODE unloads the object and does not load it again until you are a few hundred meters away, causing a visible pop into view.
The user reports the same happens with the jetways.

I have seen a somewhat similar issue with jetways where there initial starting position would be incorrect, and then corrected when you get closer, but at least they would still be visible from several miles away. This would only happen in FSX and not P3D so I left it alone and attributed to an older sim.
This however is very immersion breaking and cannot be ignored.

At first I thought that some other very complex objects were overloading the sim causing the slow loading times, but I have confirmed that these objects are not loaded.

Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on a solution?
