• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

The gp lines and gp surfaces in ADE can be displayed, but they disappear when imported into the P3DV5 version. What could be the reason?

hi all,The gp lines and gp surfaces in ADE can be displayed, but they disappear when imported into the P3DV5 version. What could be the reason?

Are you adding the CVX BGL file that ADE creates into an active scenery folder? It’s an extra BGL file.

Are you sure the required texture files are being added to the adjoining texture folder?

Also, if you changed P3Dv5.x's default airport elevation and re-compiled your project, you may have an _ALT BGL conflict to fix.

Download BGL2XML version 10.x and decompile any _ALT BGL ADE output for local ICAO's if altitude was changed from P3Dv5.x' default.

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/bgl2xml-gui-v-1-10.448225/

If ADE output a _ALT BGL for any local ICAO's, it / they will be located in:

[Prepar3D_v4_install-path]\Scenery\World\scenery\ sub-folder

Post the XML code BGL2XML outputs, within a reply here in this thread for local ICAO's if was altitude changed from P3Dv5.x' default.

IIUC, a search of your post history at FSDEV suggests you may be (rather secretively) working on one- or both- Shanghai city airports:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai_Pudong_International_Airport

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai_Hongqiao_International_Airport

If that is so, please recall that you previously expressed an interest in flattening the entire city to (1) altitude.

P3D already does this for both airport flattens (Airport Bounds Polygon = "ABP") at Shanghai.

But if you did make a (1) altitude terrain flatten for the entire city, it might be in a custom CVX BGL separate from airfield ABP flattens.

ADE shows this altitude info in airport properties for those (2) P3Dv4.x default (aka 'stock') ICAOs ARPs and RWYs; ABP's should match:

ZSSS
Shanghai
Hongqiao
31.197777875,121.335555464
3.048 Meters

ZSPD
Shanghai
Pudong
31.141666733,121.789999902
3.048 Meters

ADE's status bar at the bottom of its GUI, tells us the info we need to find the P3Dv4.x default airport folder scenery path.

The P3Dv4.x default terrain-modifying flatten ABP for those (2) P3Dv4.x default (aka 'stock') ICAOs is in:

[Prepar3D_v4_install-path]\Scenery\1002\scenery\cvx8020.bgl

ADE lists Altitude assigned to any replacement ABP flatten for the (2) P3Dv4.x default (aka 'stock') ICAOs.

If you made replacement ABP flattens for those (2) P3Dv4.x default (aka 'stock') ICAOs, please tell us what the Altitude is for each one.

I have put everything in, but maybe it's because there is a landscape I created in my scene, and the two conflict, so it won't display?
