• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

The KLN90B for FSX/Prepar3d in beta.

I did finally manage to compile it, but I'm quite busy this weeks and I haven't been able to test it. In a couple of weeks , I'll come back here with more news, as I think i know how to fix the problem with the NAV database not building properly. Of course, I'd need Dutch's permission to post it.
But otherwise, this beautifil gauge is back on the flight sim menu

Here it goes, with a couple of notes after some testing:

Working on P3Dv4!!

1. Unzip inside your P3Dv4 root folder.
This is a standalone version, which means you don't need to load from scratch all waypoints. PTT files (the APT, WAYPT, etc...) files are already installed
2. Read the manual on "KLN90B/Manuals". It features useful usage instructions, specially how to install it in your aircraft

Bugs fixed/solutions:
This gauge will crash if you attempt to load a SID/STAR without first creating a flight plan with the departure and arrival airport. Example in the screenshot. Dont load ANY SID or STAR without an active flight plan. This will cause a CTD.

Things yet to fix:
The gauge isn't able to rebuild its waypoint, apt... database. Members in this forum compiled an old database in FSX, which is featured in this version but obviously isn't up to date.
The sound module is lost. It isn't a great deal, but I kinda miss the clicking sounds when turning the dials.

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I am.

THANK YOU for rebuilding the KLN90B for P3D 64bit.
After installation and a first test it looks like working correctly. Nice !
I understand your statement "... The gauge isn't able to rebuild its waypoint, apt... database. ..."
This is a minor problem because there is an alternative.

Most of us still have FSX installed. Just get a copy of the latest AIRAC (2013) for PSS and copy those files into the folder ... FSX\KLN90B\NavData
(files: cycle_info.txt ; PSSAPT.dat ; PSSAWY.dat ; ... ; PSSWPT.dat)
Then rebuild via the FSX KLN90B "SET 0" page (CRSR, ENT). (KLN90B.CNF -> NAVDATA=3)
After this you get the FSX KLN90B files rebuilt ( PTT_APT.DAT ; PTT_NDB.DAT ; PTT_SUP.DAT ; PTT_VOR.DAT ; PTT_WPT.DAT )
Copy these files to your P3D KLN90B folder ( ... \P3DV4\KLN90B\ ). That's all, you are up to date :-)

Additionally you can update P3D bgl files with the free WORLD NAVAIDS PACKAGE (https://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html)
This way you get the correct Runways and COM frequencies updated.

All of this works for me.
Once again thank you for bringing back to life this wonderful GPS/navigation gauge.

The database rebuild function was tested on my side before I ever cared about the SID/STAR files, which I guess means the gauge was unable to find the files to build the database by itself. I'll test this and correct the instrucions if true. Thanks for that one.

Hi,

Many thanks for your job: wonderful to have the possibility to use it in P3D v4 and plus.

Hello everyone,

Really, really pleased to find this fantastic navigator! You guys have created a great little gem here and it is really fun to use. I really like the fact that you can use Navigraph data to update this and that is the main reason for my post. F22Dead, appreciate you sharing the process to build the nav database files with the KLN90B in FSX and copy and paste the .DATs over to Prepar3d V4. I tried this in the FSX Steam Edition with various versions of the KLN90B gauge files available for download from the links in this tread of posts (ones from 2015 and 2017). I have tried placing the latest ARINC cycle for PSS from Navigraph in the appropriate folder in FSX-SE KLN90B folder and initiated the rebuild via the SET 0 page. Each time I get to about 16% progress and it crashes to desktop. Which FSX or 32-bit version of the KLN90B have you been using? Is it one from GitHub instead of one of the links on these boards? Is it perhaps a FSX-SE issue? Appreciate any insight you might have. Happy to provide further info if needed.

Will this work in P3DV5.1? Thanks, Pete

I sent you a private message back in Dec 2020. Seems you have not logged in since then. Can you please reply back.

I know the title clearly says this is for FSX.... but perhaps someone knows how can I update ptt kln90b in fs2004? Thanks in advance.
