• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Triggering Hangar door animation in SimObject by distance?

Source files sent in a reply to rumbaflappy
I took a look at the source material you uploaded. Your initial post mentioned that the doors do not stay open for more than a second. I suspect that the issue is that you have animated the doors but not got a control mechanism coded. That means that the door animation just cycles repeatedly, hence the doors not remaining open.

Firstly, it looks as if the door animation is not truly two-way: it appears only to close then loop back to the open position. You will need to animate an opening sequence and a closing sequence.

Your next step should be to read through MAMU's excellent post with sample code on page 4 of this thread; download and read his hangarScriptSample.zip. It took me a while, and help from Dick (Rumbaflappy), but I eventually got the hang of it for my TAB-V models.

I looked at and downloaded the sample provided on page 4, and another sample provide from another post. This is how I got as far as I did, however neither mention anything about the blender animation. If you look at my worldscript file, you will notice that I used the sample file from page 4, which still include his comments. My weakness is Blender. I think I will just use the yoke to trigger the animation. This is way more complicated than it need be for a simple animation IMO. Thanks for your reply.
