• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Troubles seeing models in MSFS

Is anyone else having seemingly random troubles getting their models to display in the sim? I'm using the most recent version of the exporter, in Blender 2.83.

Following the same steps every time, sometimes the model will show in the sim but more often than it will only show in the list of objects, with a name 'unknown', at the right spot but nothing visible. I can select it and all but can't see it. I haven't been able to get behind why this is happening, which is why I'd like to know if anyone has experienced the same and found a solution. At a loss here and quite frustrated with it.

Edit: The compilation process throws absolutely no errors, and I'm deleting the compiled package before re-compiling, to no avail.

I had problems using packaged scenery from other people. I have a non standard installation structure, and it is very different from default 'community' structure. There are identical folders on two different drives, one being SSD for game, one is default appdata path on C://users etc.. both have almost identical contents.. the catch is, only one has the correct 'contents.xml' file that is required to mount the community packages. If your contents.xml doesn't show installed packages, they wont show in the game.
The crazy part is, some packages were auto written into this file, just by drag drop into the community folder, others weren't, and never showed in game until I edited their names into the xml file manually. This xml file is supposed to be just above the community folder. Mine is nowhere near it due to the non standard install. Took me a while to find it, and as there were two of them, which was the right one to use.

The best guess I can think of for your situation is to double and triple check that you're naming the .xml the "exact" same name as the .GlTF file. The only time I had issues with objects not showing was due to this. Good luck, hope you figure out what's going on.
