• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

User flyable floatplane gets 'caught' on water runway

I have noticed that water runways no mater how wide they are (even 0 feet wide) cause user flyable floatplanes to get 'caught' on them when crossing them. Is there anyway they can be created so that AI aircraft will work and user flyable floatplanes will not get caught on them?
Thanks

AFAIK the only way you can get ai aircraft to takeoff is to create a CONCRETE runway which I have done and have no problems with AI aircraft.
Last night using ADE with the airport loaded for a complex water airport created by a 'company' (which shows the position of a user flyable floatplane for reference) I moved my floatplane (in FSX) to the edge of the runway using that water airport scenery and my aircraft also got 'caught' on the runway so I am no assuming that it is not possible to create a runway for ai aircraft which does not cause a user flyable floatplane to get caught on it when taxiing slowly across it (note although it is a concrete runway it is not seen in the water so no way of accidentally trying to cross it).

I make my waterairports runways with Ice (width 0.0) and never had problems with caughting.

Thanks Christian I will give that a go.

ADDED LATER

Thanks again Christian. After some initial problems caused by memory loss (I forgot that there was an actual runway object under my taxipath type runway) I changed it to ICE surface and apart from the user aircraft 'bumping' on the ICE 'runway' it doesn't get caught anymore.
That 'feature' (using surface type ICE instead on CONCRETE for AI water runways) should be added to any previous documents created (can't remember where I read about using concrete). I wonder how you knew about it or was it just trial and error?
