• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

using the voice device for gauge sounds

I am trying to use Douglas's latest sound gauge [dsd_fsx_xml_sound_309151] to port gauge sounds to my alternate sound device using the gauge variable 11. ATC is already running on this device, which feeds separate speakers from the ones I use for external sounds (much more realistic). Substituting 11 for 1 in the load statement results in no sound from the gauge from either sound device. Using 1 as the gauge variable my gauges "talk" again through the primary sound device. Any help would be appreciated.

Brett,

The value of 11 will only load the sound - it will not play it. Once the sound is loaded, you will need to set a value of 1 or 2 to play the sound.
Sorry for the non-response to the e-mail - I do tax returns for a living and in Canada that means that I have no life until tomorrow.

Doug I am still unable to re-direct the feed to the voice device. I'm using your LVar gauge to watch the variables change. I am assuming that both steps need to be executed in the same gauge update cycle, so I arm the voice using one gauge and set an LVar flag, follow it with the dsd gauge, then sense the flag change and execute the play using a second gauge followed by a repeat of the dsd gauge.

Is this the way you intended that it be implemented?

Eventually I would like all my gauge sounds vectored to the voice device. Is there a way to configure the dsd gauge to do this everytime a sound call is made?

Thanks for the help!

Brett
