• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Voice Actors Needed For Copilot Sound Packs

Hello!

I'm looking for volunteers to lend their voices to act as copilots for several sound packs I'm putting together. These sound packs will compliment a "virtual copilot" profile I created for a program called VoiceAttack. VoiceAttack is a very neat program that allows you to control your games, simulators, and applications with voice commands.

The profile I created is already set up to receive a voice command, comply, and verbally acknowledge. It uses the same default voice as whatever you have set for your speech recognition in windows. I've done many flights with it, and so far it's been outstanding! Furthermore, it currently has over 215 downloads on Simviation.com, so I suppose other people like it as well. You can find it in the FSX/Misc section.

To make it more realistic, I would like to create these sound packs using voices from different cultural backgrounds and possibly different languages. I have the recording software needed, so I just the voices.

Voice actors will be credited for their participation, but, as this is a free addon, there will be no compensation.

Reply to this thread if you are interested. Thank you!

In case no one's interested, text-to-speech can be a viable alternative. I've used that method for creating some co-pilot callouts and it works quite well as long as you edit the voice samples in Audacity afterward. Unvortunately, the service I've used (Ivona's free previews) doesn't seem to be available anymore, but I bet there are some alternatives out there.

Well, with my Copilot VoiceAttack profile, I already have text-to-speech setup for the acknowledgements. For users of Windows 7, they will only have Microsoft Anna available. This is why I'm putting together sound packs.

Hi Jack,

Huge fan of Voice Attack - best $10.00 I've spent on FS... Many of us have been snapping up voices from a company called Cereproc - they had a big sale over the holidays - they sound very good and work perfectly with VA... I've used them a great deal - really improved the VA experience... They have regional dialects as well... Some of the female voices may make you forget all about flying...

I've got a decent vocal mic if you want a profane, snarky copilot who tells you how inaccurate your preferred airplane is. ;)

LOL - Cantu as a co-pilot - OMG - I could only imagine the comments from the right seat...

Those voices are nice, but they are expensive. Some people may be able to afford $10 on VoiceAttack, but may not be willing to spend $30+ on one voice. I want to create and share at least five voicepacks for free. These voicepacks will only include acknowledgements for the profile I have already created and shared. It's just something I put together to be an alternative to spending a lot of money for a copilot addon.

You must be English :rotfl:

I've got a pretty smooth and calm voice, though it may not realistically represent the sound of a copilot. Still interested though.

That's great! Thank you for your interest. What does a copilot realistically sound like? I think the end result should sound adult and professional.

The recording will be fairly simple to do. We can use one of the channels in my Teamspeak for communication. We'll do a couple of test recordings first in order for me to get my recording software and microphone set up. I can provide you with a readme with the script.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to do any recording until after the weekend.

Note the pilot rules below. Haha, also, I'm in Australia Sydney time, however since I'm on holidays I can do whenever really, just give me a UTC time and I'll see if I can make it.

Cheers

Haha! That image just made my day.

I'll give you my Teamspeak address once I get back from my weekend trip so we can schedule a time to record. We definitely need to make sure it's a time when we can minimize ambient noises.

If you can send me a script, I can then have a practice, so there will be minimal re-recordings on the day.

I uploaded the file. On the far right you will see the column Copilot Replies.

Wisconsin-born, Minnesota-raised, actually - I guess my reputation has faded at this point! Hiroshi Igami blames me for some kind of increase in overall model-building accuracy - I think the point he was trying to make was that it would be easier to do it right the first time than put up with my <complaining>.

I released my first voicepack for my VoiceAttack copilot profile on Simviation.com. I recorded the profile myself with 70 copilot acknowledgements in order to get the microphone (blue yeti) and recording software (audacity) set up correctly and to test the waters to make sure something like this is desired in the community. I also added some effects to make it sound a bit more like my voice is being spoken through an aircraft radio.

So far so good with 100+ downloads! I'm still looking for others whom are interested in voice acting as a virtual copilot. Just contact me or reply to this thread.

Goody, I still have you on the list. Let me know what a good time will be to record this Friday or Sunday, if possible. I won't be available on Saturday, unfortunately.
