• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

1a. For what I know of "Gmax" - It has been an official part of the Microsoft Flightsimulator Developer Kits (SDK) for many years
- https://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php/GMax:_FAQs

1b. Take a look over here in the FsDeveloper resource section if this is what you need
-[ url]https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/resources/gmax-sdk.34/[/url]

2 - 1st method: Contact AutoDesk (directly or via their forum) and ask them if they still have their old Gmax archives online:

3 - 2nd method: Another official way to get Gmax is do find and purchase an (old) version of FS2004 or FSX DVD's
And start to install the SDK from there on your computer
-https://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php/Gmax_installation_guide_for_FS2004

4 - Take a look at the forum / libraries of flightsimulator download sites (avsim, flightsim, flyawaysimulation, surlaco..)

5 - Do a Google or FTP server search on the "Gmax package':
- https://www.sim-outhouse.com/freeflight/Design.html
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another (non-Gmax) angle to get 3D modeling - "Blender". Cutting edge Open_Source 3D (and so much more) modeling software
The Blender package is totally free is supported by a thriving international community
- https://www.blender.org/ - homepage
- https://www.blender.org/download/ - download location

Blender's own Youtube channel:

Happy modelling (for free) :)

Gmax is broken with windows 11. Get Blender , and with the right addons, you can use it with FSX, P3d, or MSFS. What sim are you going to use it for?

Sorry rhumbaflappy, but Gmas does run on Windows 11. I just got it working earlier this week. Once he has a copy of Gmax on his machine he needs to do an internet search for gmax registration workaround.zip. Once he downloads the zip and follows the instructions Gmax will run. It's simple and only takes a few minutes. Having said that I'm going to say this. I use Blender for 99% of my modeling.
