• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Where did the VC Go????

The last couple of FS2004 models I looked at converting (Personal use) to FSX format don't load the VC model. My usual workflow is I import the exterior model and it seems to work like it always did. Then I reopen the model and select model 1 instead of 2 as I always have and it seems to load the exterior model not the VC model. (And yes in Fs9 it had a vc) The version I'm running is both the versions that were current on April 27th and July 24th of this year. This happened on both Rien's Piper Seneca and the Veneaviones 690 commander. It will however open the vc model fine on any earlier model that has been converted. I tried an old version for MCX from 2023 that I had kicking around on my HD opens the VC model fine. Any Ideas?

With the default settings the VC and external model will both load at the same time, but the correct representation being assigned to them. So in that case you won't get the variable window either. Could it be this that is confusing you?

Use the green arrows to switch between the exterior and VC models.

Glad to hear that solved it. While improving the FS2004 export functionality the way the internal/external model are shown has changed, so I understand that might give confusion.
