• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Which gamepack are you using with CAT? Are you still using the Fs2002 gamepack or have you already switched to the Fs2004 gamepack now the new beta of CAT is there? If you are still using both you can select both options in the poll.

And how would you think about CAT dropping Fs2002 support in the future? Please comment on that by replying here.

Currently I am struggling to create first gmax model in FS2004 and will not use anything in relationship GMAX-FS2002, only for FS2004+. So I opt for FS2004+ support

For 3D objects, I switched to FS2004 gamepack. The process of getting the object easily into the sim via XML is the main advantage for me.

For gmax created ground polys, I still use the FS2002 gamepack, as it still supports the ability to use the addcat command. Well, until someone cracks up the new bgl format completely and can give a new alternative to this very problem :)

A little bit off topic here, but in the new format the ADDCAT command is just not supported. Using the zbias_ material prefix as described in a post here on the forum seems to work in the new gamepack.

Yeah, I know, but I need to define the poly as a layer with a layer number, just to let taxilines show up on the ground polygons.

That is not possible. Any polygon you make as 3D object (MDL file) will always show on top of taxilines (and other elements) made with the XML scenery. This is just impossible, you can only use the XML polygons in that case.

I´m using the 2004 gamepack for everything except lights.

Hi. I still use FS2002's gamepack because I find it easier to make calling APIs through FSRegen. Ohhh, and the landing_light thingy that works only in FS2002.

Please continue FS2002 support for CAT :-D

Sorry, I will not. All new things will go to CAT and not to CAT2k2.

But check out the other tools forum, I just put a tool there yesterday that can make API macros for a XML library :) (although I recommend using a XML placement tool of course).

Here is a response you may have to ask your parents about...... :rotfl:

Oh Arno........... You know what I like !!!
