• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Windsock reverting to original size

When I am making changes in the SDK I size down my windsock, however ingame it returns to size (1) instead of 0.5 as I set it. Is there a fix to this issue?

Not that i know of. I tried it too, it doesn't take the size. Tried to change the scale in the gltf too, of all the splines etc, but that destroyed the form.

Maybe importing to blender and change it there could work, didn't try it yet

I doubt anything with animation or programming can be scaled. Too much hassle to tweak and not enough demand for it anyway. You can't do it with sim objects either as far as I can tell.

The animation itself works fine while I am in the scenery editor, but when I save the project and use the package, it is scaled back up

Yeah but that is the important part :) a few other things show up in the editor different from the outcome via community folder.

Like that it shows no fueling objects in editor, on a taxiwayparking type fuel. Or no groundworkers on a parking.

What matters it what's happening in the output package and if it doesn't show there we are out of luck i guess.

SimObjects can't be scaled, I think. A windsock placed as a library object can be scaled, but then I believe it's animation doesn't work. Placing a windsock as an XML element in an airport is placing it as a SimObject of sorts.

jup. At least this is how it looks atm. I hope the scaling from the editor will overwrite the xml one day. Or better said i hope there is a way to overwrite it. Of course it has to be optional.

Your not alone Andreas ^^ Im really bothered by it too, the windsock irl is 1/3 in size from the Asobo one and i put hundreds of hours into the project to make everything like it is irl... This is the only one object that breaks this rule. But with Blender only usage i dont see myself doing a custom one in near future :-(

I'm hoping someone with the skills will make a free library of various windsocks as SimObjects, and that would resolve the problem.
