• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Adding vertex to an existing polygon

Is there any way I can add new vertices to an existing polygon? I have a rather large poly in which I drew a long straight line that doesn't look that good in scenery. I want to break it down into more vertices without having to redraw the whole thing.

I can't recall for sure but usually it would be some sort of modifier key plus a click or perhaps a right click when over the line. As I say I am just guessing :o

I don't know what program you are using but if you are trying to add new vertices to SBuilderX:

1. Select the Polygon.
2. Select Polygon Mode.
2. Hold down I key and click on the polygon edge where you want to add the vertex.

Note: I find SBuilderX extremely flakey! If the above method doesn't work, I quit SBuilderX then restart it, load my project and try again. I also find that I can create a polygon and sometimes it will allow me to expand the poly to fill the QMID11 tile and sometimes it won't. So I find I have to quit the program often then reload and try again. Extremely exasperating!

Hi Mike!
I understand your exasperation! at first I found SBX difficult to learn to use because of a lot of issues. Now I managed to flatten that learning curve but as you say, the author has failed to do a lot of error checking as well as improve on the user interface. Anyway, I am glad this program exists to replace FSX KML which is by now totally broken.

The procedure you indicated is correct and works (yet another undocumented feature?), I nearly got lost on the I thing and realized you meant pressing the "I" (for Insert) key.

As for the QMID Fill, right again, sometimes it lets you, sometimes it doesn't. I found that first selecting the polygon then switching to Polygon mode then the QMID context menu options would appear.

I am sure one year from now I would have forgotten all these pearls of SBX wisdom! pity they don't appear to be well documented.
