• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSXA Generic buildings disappear

Hi everybody!

I don't know where to put this. I have a problem with standard generic buildings in FSX. They disappear if I look at them in a special angle or when I'm getting closer to them. And only the generic buildings. Library buildings are still there and not effected. I deactivated all addons but with no success.

FSX with Acceleration is installed on Win7 64bit

Does anybody know this problem?

Thanks for any help

Markus

I have no positive answer. Generally this sort of thing can relate to video drivers but if it is only generic buildings then that wouls seem less likely

Doe this happen everywhere or just at some locations?

Are these stock airports or addon?

Are you using photographic scenery textures? If so, genering buildings will be excluded by the photographic bgl.

I am running Win 7 64bit and have this same problem. And yes it seems to happen in photoscenery areas... This didnt happen on my old FSX install.

Hi Folks

Markus -
This is a known issue, (bugged in FSX betas).

Its not photoscenery or video-driver related,
but due to the way some generic model content was authored.

Issue wasn't noticed till Acceleration betas,
but subsequent testing confirmed issue had also been present in FSX RTM.

The objects are clipped if your viewpoint is below a certain pitch-down angle.

Originally observed on a few buildings at KDEN, then KMSO.

IIRC most noticeable at ? Kandahar ?, (certainly one of the Afghanistan airports),
where all building content disappears.

IIRC attached screenies were from KMSO.

First of all I would like to thank all of you answering.

The problem appeared with all addons turned off, so this is in fact not a photoscenery problem.

It happens everywhere on stock airports with generic buildings. I first saw it on EDNY (Friedrichshafen) and later on other airports e.g. EDFE (Egelsbach) near EDDF (Frankfurt).

Like UtahJazzfan described, this also wasn't a problem for me until I needed to reinstall everything. He brought me to think about what might be different to my earlier installation. Right, the settings. I looked at the scenery-settings and then I had a brainwave.

Automatic generated objects where set to 'none' and that was the problem. You have to set it to at least 'low' and everything is all right again.

And by the way: It's not a bug. It's a feature. ;)

Come to think of it I didn't notice it happening until i installed some megascenery earth stuff and used there recommended settings in which they tweak your cfg file.

Gents,

To give this old issue some new life: I'm experiencing exactly this posting is about, with BlueSky photo scenery.
I did several tests and one thing is very clear: In my case this disapearing buildings problem IS indeed related to photo scenery! Not to onther scenery, settings, or addons. But alas, no clue why this is happening.

I wonder if someone else has found a solution yet.

Hi Folks

Slowhand -

It is not photo-scenery specific.
It is model specific.

It just happens that those models you are viewing
happen to be placed on photo-scenery.

As Microsoft ACEs previously reported -
"Its not photoscenery or video-driver related,
but due to the way some generic model content was authored.
"

In FLIGHT,
almost all model content was re-authored,
but the issue still occurs on a few non-reauthored models.

This clipping is particularly noticeable on the aerial mast model,
where a floating section of the upper mast may be briefly displayed.

Thanks for your reaction BASys. Guess I have to dive into the bgl's of those particular airfields. They are addons that partly make use of the stock FSX airfields.
Still wondering why looking-up is oké, and looking-down makes them disappear. But that's digging too deep for me I think.
Thank again.

dessapearing Genbuilding workaround fix

Hi there every one, after my first attempts into the world of scenery
design for fsx Acceleration , and using SbuildeX313, i was experiancing the same
view angle problem with the Gen buildings from Sbuilderx, i recon that i
might have resolved this odd situation by accendent, not sure why, but if i compile from the
Object tool , the spcific ASD Macros object, that being the AVGas_Tank
under the Airfeild objects catagory, then all the Gen buildings i have compiled
into bgl format with sbuilderx for my project, displays correctly..with no clipping or disappearing
genbuilding, even over the photorealistic bgls compiled
with Sbuilferx for that area, ...please Note that the ASD macros object, that being the
AVGas Tank, compiled into . bg format and placed into Addon scenery of my
fsx folder does not show or display "in Game" , but it does
make the Genbuildings display and does not effect any other
custom scenery...may be some of the other developers
that have been experiencing the some odd glitch with the genbuildings can
reproduce the same result's by compiling the macros item into
. bgl format and using it with other sceney of there
specific project's ,hope fully this work around can assist someone, not sure if itbworks for the
stock standerd fsx delux , Sp1 or Sp2 updates, but it work for the Acceleration expansion.

Regards everyone

It's the bounding box area. Sometimes this is incorrect.

You can easily change it so it is visible by using the mdl tweaker in the MCX special tools section.

Coordinates are in metres.

Hi shaun, THNX for the advise on ModelconverterX , recently downloaded the software and wil be giving it a go. I also have been reading about the Fs9 tree conversion solution for Fsx using ModelconverterX, I hope to have this work in fsx

excellent day everyone
