• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Library Object Manager not placing objects now.

Greetings,

I hope to have some sneak peeks of the progress on TNCM soon. Everything had been going well when in the last 2-3 days I cannot place objects from my LOM. The GUID, thumbnail all show but nothing shows in the sim. Any ideas anyone? I was trying to place some ramp lighting when I first noticed it. Also generic buildings seem to place okay.

How are you placing the objects?

Are you right clicking on the ADE display > Add > Library object?

What objects are you trying to add?

Do you have the actual object library and is it in an active scenery folder in the sim?

BTW, which sim are you working with?

cheers,
Lane

Please confirm the version. If you are using the new beta then there was a bug that position newly placed objects at 1000 ft or meters above the airport. This bug has been fixed and there is an update via the online updater.

Thanks,
Lane, Ray, and Jon

My ADE version is 01.71.6099.19931 Beta. My sim is P3DV3.3 latest version. What I noticed wasn't being placed are the ramp lights from the resource area of FS Developer (RampLight Library.bgl 001) a blast fence(Blast Barrier) also the street lights from stock (206B.BGL 001). I was under the impression that the object bgls were added to the .bgl when I compile ADE is that a mis-understanding?
I have an active object library in my add on scenery in the sim where I added all the old FS9, EZ scenery, and RWY12 bgls. I was able to add some mdl ramp lights but their footprint is so large I can't see anything nearby. Also I noticed that their were some ramp light files specifically '32291-vicenh04_objects' that were GMAX files how are those added to ADE?

Thanks for your all your help.
BTW Ray and Jon I figured out how to approximate real back turns on TNCM's runway. I will post some screenshots in a bit.

Hi,

There are two ways to add objects in ADE. First is Add.../Model, which adds an object contained in an MDL file to the airport. These objects are actually contained within the ADE BGL file and no other actions are needed (other than to place their textures into the adjoining texture folder).

The other way is Add.../Library Object, which uses objects listed in the Library Object Manager (LOM). These objects are NOT included in the ADE BGL file and are only referenced by their GUID (Global Unique Identifier). These library BGL files must be placed into an active FS scenery folder (and their textures into the adjoining texture folder) before they will show up in the sim. General purpose addon library files have been traditionally placed into a Static Objects Library/scenery folder, but any active scenery folder will do just fine. There are no priority worries about these.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the info Tom. Here is my progress so far at TNCM.

As you can see I have a long way to go, but most of my time has been spent on getting the back turns to work. For the jumbo's I dedicated a single taxi way just for them and when they taxi to takeoff RWY 10 they travel down the runway as Taxiway Alpha is too narrow for their wheels. That also was a chore to get it to work, but here is the finished product:

Now I need to learn how to make textures that will make the airport look used not brand new. Oh yeah I need to also learn how to make buildings. Just as an aside as of 10/28/2016 KLM made its last flight to TNCM :(. Oh well we still have the 787 that TUI operates. I don't know if I would have made it this far without everyone's programs and advice.
Happy Holidays to all.
Tom V.
