• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello, thanks for clicking on this post My friend and I are currently working on an Airbus A380-800. We are looking for a dedicated developer to join us and create gauges for the Virtual cockpit. We will need a PFD, NFD, Ecmas display, and fmc, we want them to be as realistic as possible but are not looking for something perfect in the first version. I’m sure a lot of u will ask if we have a model yet or any pictures to show, and the answer is no. I am still deciding weather to make the model myself or buy it from a modeling dev. We don't have a specific time frame yet but we're hoping to be done with the exterior model by end of May or beginning of june. If you a talented dev willing to work with a new team setting out to make the biggest aircraft in the industry for flight please fill out this form. https://goo.gl/forms/LBpOoU6L1k9GYe5N2
Happy flying,
Liam Marincik

TIP: Invest some time and effort and learn to build it yourself (if you have the tools and the time).
This effort will pay off later, since it will enable you to build other future aircraft too ;-)

Question: What kind of (A380-800) (3D outside and VC-inside) modeling tools did you had in mind?

Ronald, the Airbus A380 variant that we will be going after is the -800 variant aswell as we are currently trying to model it out in 3DS Max but we are currently having diffuculty. The main thing we are asking for at the moment is for a developer who knows XML or C++ and can make the gauges that we have listed above. We are currently trying to model but if we can't figure it out our self then we will restore to other measures. Also if you want you can fill out the form so later we can contact you if we needed.
Thank you,
Liam M

Liam,

I don't want to dampen any optimism or enthusiasm early on. That said, do you understand what is the scope of the project you are doing? I suggest you ask questions on why some things have not been done before and be informed, before making a decision to buy models or recruit people.

A project is only as strong as its project leader. I wish you luck.

In addition, it seems that Airbus has decided to join the ranks of Textron in enforcing their copyrights by introducing a new licensing scheme where the developers will have to pay a percentage of gross sales to them for the privilege of the license...

...mm..... right... and what kind of support are developers getting back from Airbus for their license payments?

Not much at all! No "technical information" or other forms of "support." All that's being granted is the dubious privilege of using their name and Airbus will supply their authentic graphics and logos.

Here is an interesting press release from Airbus regarding this licensing scam, er. scheme. Note the statement below which I've highlighted in red:
https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/63v1f8/airbus_will_now_require_flight_simulator_addons/

"Our colleagues identified companies already using Airbus' brands and images and now we are going to contact them and explain that we have put in place a policy dedicated to their authorised use," explains Florent. "If they want to continue, they have to apply for a licence and pay us a percentage of their profits."

A campaign will be launched this year to communicate with the industry and new launches will also be monitored, with Airbus approaching third party companies seen using its images about becoming licensed.

"We expect royalties to total one million euros a year by 2019," says Sandrine Mourlan-Dubois from Airbus' simulation sales and support, explaining that software developers will be asked to pay reasonable royalties to Airbus.

So if I make a freeware Airbus, I have to register with Airbus, yet pay 0€ in royalties because I'm not making a profit?

They appear to have a transposition error in their target date. They should hit 1 million euros in about 2091.

I guess free advertising really isn't free. :teacher:
Harley Davidson started this a long time ago with T-shirts. You had to pay a fee to have their logo on a shirt you were selling. They even claimed the colors orange and black!

it ridiculous.
how about if there an "ugly" airbus and have “Airbus officially licensed product” label.

Thanks for this link Bill! This is an most interesting read and development, I will get back later on the contents the article.

I want to know where they came up with the sales projections for addons. Anyone remember a single developer even coming close to making 10% of that sales figure in a year? Nah... of course not. LOL
