• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SBuilderX exclusion question

Everytime I make new coastlines for our part of the World I struggle to figure out to have the "right" exclusion area and new Water polygons.
Anyone knows a easier way to see, how much of the default Water I need to exclude.
My problem is when I exclude then I have "Island"s on the ocean, and Water on some land.

Do Views > QMID grid > level 11. The rule is you must exclude and rebuild an entire QMID 11 cell, if your area of interest happens to fall on a QMID 11 boundary then you may need to do 2 or even 4 QMID 11 cells. Best way to do it is make an exclusion poly for shorelines and another for hydro polys then select each one, right click and "Fill to QMID 11". Set the transparency to 10 or so then you can see to add your new hydro polys and shorelines. Hydro polys and shorelines clip at QMID 11 boundaries by design. A small exclude will exclude whatever it touches so it's possible to exclude a small hydro poly and rebuild it without rebuilding the entire QMID 11 cell. You can open your vector .bgl in TMFViewer and see how the polys are broken up. From that you may be able to figure out what you need in your SBuilder file to accomplish what you want to do. That's fine for your own use but since hydro polys clip at QMID 11 boundaries, by excluding and rebuilding in units of a QMID 11 cell, you know your scenery will work above whatever the end user has installed whether that be default FSX, FTX Vector, UTX, or whatever else is out there.
