Hello All!
I have ben working on a vector scenery for the west European area in FS9. I figured out how to (painstakingly) convert OSM to FS9 rivers, roads, coastlines....
One thing came to my mind! If I place buildings beside residential roads how will this look? Pretty well It seems! Here an example of what comes out when things go well!
However, there are times when the vector autogen goes berserk:
All the buildings should not be there! there is no roads beside them! Also, this terrain.cfg trick has quite the performance impact, nd this glitch decimates FPS from 100 to 7!! (in normal working conditions, it already may reduce FPS by 50%,but 100 to 50 is still usable).
How does this work? a new texture type was defined on terrain.cfg. it calls library objects that are placed beside the roads. Using clipdata=0 seems to mitigate the problem, but it seems to cause occasional crashes (actually, systematic at given locations)!
If cannot sort this out, I will remove this trick from the scenery, and leave the roads with only light orbs at night (they make for some spectacular effects).
Anyone tried to tinker with vector autogen than can help me out?
