• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi there

Here are the first previews from my next project: Metz Nancy Lorraine Airport in France.

Metz Nancy Lorraine is a French regional airport serving both Metz and Nancy cities, which are located in Northeast of France, one hour drive from the German and Luxembourg boarders.

The scenery will be available for FSX / P3D and FS9 a few weeks later.

Please take a look at the preview pictures (this is of course a work in progress, what you see in the previews is not the final product):

It is very nice detail of texture and model.
The grass does look boxy a bit for a higher view but the view from the ground looks so nice.

Thank you Tic !
I agree about the grass. I find it challenging to deal with 3D grass, but from a cockpit heigh it does look quite realistic ;)

Many thanks for the kind comment Jim!
By the way, I have a very good news: I think I found a way to solve all the bugs with "volumetric" halos for the apron night lighting (no more see through clouds, no problem with foggy weather, etc.). I will post a topic about it with explanations and screenshots as soon as possible ;)

Hi Oskar,

Thank you for your comment. About the grass, I think that for smaller airports it really adds to the "atmosphere". I see no FPS loss but I put it into a separate BGL so the user car remove it if he doesn't want the 3D grass in the scenery ;)

I agree with you on that one even with most larger airports on the market there is 3D grass its kind of become a necessary element in today's scenery's as like Thomas said it adds a new "Layer" of realism to the airport looking good Thomas keep up the excellent work! :)

Sure it's nice with more 3d stuff, but I just didn't like the way you can see a pattern in the grass, but maybe it's just me! :)

I can understand that ;) I find it difficult to create grass polygons without showing the pattern. At least at cockpit heigh the pattern doesn't show, so this is better than nothing ;)
I will always put the grass into a different bgl file so the user can delete it if needed.

Cheers

Sounds great Thomas! ;) The airport looks really good though!

Thanks a lot for the advice Tic, this is looking awesome ! I will try this technique. In the meantime I found a way to make the grass pattern barely seen from above: the contrast between the grass texture and the ground imagery must be as small as possible:

Nice. You mean you adjust the color of the grass to match the ground, is that right?
