• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Some times you just "doodle" around a bit

Way to go F747fly, now get going and finished build this awesome model!
What are you waiting for? Keep those development screenshots coming :-)

Thanks Ronald!

What I've been up to:
- Fixed the general curvature of the fuselage (top and bottom)
- Fixed the mesh connecting the fuselage to the wing (not complete yet)
- Added the NATO store compatible pylons (starboard and portside)
- Added the inboard slats
- Adjusted the wings shape to match the Gripen's profile
- Adjusted the wings geometry to fit the Gripen's outline.
- Adjusted the Horizontal Stabalizer's root section.

Not exactly pushing mountains here but I think it looks pretty decent.

EDIT: I also think I'll need some pointers on painting, because I think that (though the modelling isn't great) it'd look a bit better with less plain textures...

I think it would look just fine with some faint rivets/lines and a bit of reddish-brown dirt here and there. Also a rough-looking bare metal specular map could spice things up a bit. (See the default P3D F-22 for an example what I'm talking about.)

But in the meantime, is this still just a "doodle" of yours or are you planning to take it all the way to completion?

Interesting ideas, gonna try them out! Unfortunatelly I do not have P3D, I'm still with old FSX, so I can't really take a look at the F-22.
Well I want to seriously do this, I like where it is heading if I'm honest but I need a whole lot of time to it I guess.

@F747fly. It is possible for you to put on a Blender screenshot of your JAS39D 3D MESH without the materials and textures on it?
This enables me I to learn from it how you got the JAS39D "curves" modelled so smoothly for my YF16 project.

Yeah sure, I'll send some screenshots to you this afternoon.

Hey everyone, wanted to let you guys know I'm still alive and kicking (Simple Minds song starts playing in my head). For those who have noticed (though I kind of assume no one did) I haven't really posted anything in the past 2 months. The reason for this was that I had some issues in personal life (nothing serious but it kept me away from developing) / exams / lost mood... The last thing I think is a pretty serious issue for me right now so I've kind of decided to lay low for a while and just do what I want to do right now and leave the rest on a shelf for the time being. For a long time I've been very much interested in an aircraft that might seem very ordinary for most people but I like it so I'm "doodeling" it as we speak. The aircraft in question is the Airbus A320. Now I can already see some dark cloud gather in the form of people who might criticise two things about this. One is that there are plenty of A320s out there already and there is no need for another one. The second being that this is a large and complex aircraft that is very difficult to make. The the first I have nothing usefull to say so just don't bring it up, the second is true but I just like this aircraft so if I want to waiste my time on it so be it.

Here are some renders, glitches in rendering are due to close proximity of various parts, criticism is always welcome.

Hi Frits, good to see you back! Fully understandable how things roll in real life (for me, I have a severe relational crisis going on right now:().

My advice is, and you seem to have followed it already, to do just what you like to do.

I like the model you're just making :)

Cheers, Daan

I'm working on the LEAP 1A engine as I speak. It has kind of a funky shape, sort of like how the B737NG's engin are shaped but only on one side... Though I haven't actually been near any NEOs yet (only ever identifying one in Hamburg last spring). I'll see... I like the idea.

If you manage to get the PW1127 and LEAP 1A modeled and textured (including separate parts for the thrust reversers), I'll gladly take them in .obj format since I'm reworking the Project Airbus A320 in 3ds Max (animations, visibilities, effects, etc...) to produce a FSX native Sharklet (and, with your engines, an optional NEO model).

If I maintain the right to use them on my own model I think I can supply this for you with a smile on my face, though that is not a promise .
