• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Build All immediately crashes MSFS...

But MSFS must be closed via Steam. I am just trying to learn how to do the very most basic scenery, and have created a simple torus with a gray texture as a test object. It's no problem to load the asset group & place, scale, and rotate the torus, but as soon as I try to build, the FS window...

Creating a collection of scenery objects that can be used anywhere?

I'm trying to understand how to create a collection of scenery objects I can use anywhere, and I think it's by creating a Custom package type. Is this correct? If so... any tutorials for doing so? The only tutorial I've used so far that worked started with creating a new file for an Airport. TIA

    ModelLib or BGL?

Thanks. Yes - this helps clear it up. Key note is being required in particular cases.

    ModelLib or BGL?

Thanks for the note - I didn't find anything particularly helpful regarding explaining what a modellib is for in the SDK; there is definitely a section on adding asset groups. It seems to be written by programmers. I realize they can't have all definitions in all places, but that doesn't stop...

    ModelLib or BGL?

Please, do point out where I can find the terms "modellib" or "bgl" on that page; I must keep missing them somehow, and where it explains which type should be used.

    ModelLib or BGL?

Strongly endorse reviewing my post ;) "I haven't found a clear explanation, including in the SDK."

    ModelLib or BGL?

Background: haven't found a current object creation tutorial that works. Starting from scratch... I'm creating objects that will be available to add into any scenery... So, for example, I'm creating a mailbox, or a small group of people. For each type - for example, "People" - I'm planning on...

Thanks - almost went down that road again...

Blender: What combination of SDK, Blender, and Plugins?

Thanks mamu, I'll check out your video now. Not sure what you mean by "using a sample from the SDK" - I've created a new project following the video I linked, into which I've exported my Blender file. As far as that tutorial goes, I've gone through it four times without success. I've been...

Blender: What combination of SDK, Blender, and Plugins?

Thanks again - As far as the videos go, I haven't found one that works yet for the Blender > MSFS workflow, but, as noted, still looking. Been looking for about a month, on and off... I've watched a bunch of them so far. I have no issue editing default scenery or using other downloaded scenery...

Blender: What combination of SDK, Blender, and Plugins?

Hi lionheart - Thanks for the note. In this case, I'm just creating a simple test object in Blender. The goal is to be able to create models that can be loaded into any scenery I'm working on. Unfortunately, I have yet to find instructions that, when followed, work. I'll keep looking :)

Blender: What combination of SDK, Blender, and Plugins?

Found this when Building my existing scenery. FYI my object name is "Pyramid". Tried googling this error, but haven't found anything yet:

Blender: What combination of SDK, Blender, and Plugins?

Thanks! Ok, that's part of it - Everything was named so similarly that I must have missed it. However, after what I thought was successfully opening and building the package, and putting everything in my Community folder, neither the package nor the object I made show up. Here is my folder...
