P3D v4 has anyone compared p3dv4 to the newly advertised msfs 2020

This was my first thought also, simply expecting people to pay more, so they can admit that its fun to simulate flying.

P3D v4 has anyone compared p3dv4 to the newly advertised msfs 2020

I was wondering if any of the advertised features are NOT already in P3D.4

P3D v4 has anyone compared p3dv4 to the newly advertised msfs 2020

It seems hard to imagine there would be much more that could be included in an affordable sim.

P3D v4 Import of new scenery objects into P3Dv4 is proving problematic

Thanks to you both Toprob and Gary. Your efforts to help me reminds me how great this community is. And thanks for suggesting I describe my process in detail. Helped me focus a bit. While I'm trying to let myself learn about the new scenery addon concept, I'm also musing about my effort to...

P3D v4 Import of new scenery objects into P3Dv4 is proving problematic

The addon concept is logical, I just never expected it. What I have done in the past is to experiment with scenery, but the ability to delete my experiments at some point always made me feel good. Now, if my experiments are no longer needed, they have to hand around forever? Disabled, but...

P3D v4 Import of new scenery objects into P3Dv4 is proving problematic

With help from the old timers here I've succeeded with importing my test object from 3dsmax 2018 into mcx, and finally, exporting the object into both an mdl file and bgl file. However, I have NOT yet succeeded in SEEING my object appear in P3Dv4. Along that line, I've uncovered some difficult...

    Error: can't find modeldef.xml

Aha, Between Tom and Gary, problem solved. User error, as is commonly the case. I did have the older p3dsdk installed, as my first thought was to develop for fsx, but then I changed my mind to use p3d to see my creations. At that point, I removed the earlier p3dsdk, just to clean up the HD...

    Error: can't find modeldef.xml

Thanks Gary, helps a great deal. One new understanding here is that my .x file was not corrupted. While I didn't think it would be, when things don't seem to work as you expect, anything becomes possible. I'll install p3dsdk1.4, and see if I can duplicate your success.

    Error: can't find modeldef.xml

Good thoughts Gary, I see what you mean. I hadn't let you know that my mission changed when Dick explained the P3d options. So I have P3dv4 now (I miss the Cessnas), and downloaded the P4 SDK, and use 3dsmax18. All this before I downloaded the developer version of mcx, just to confirm my tool...

Please update me on tools for P3Dv4

Arno, thanks a lot! Its been long enough I have to remember the toolset. I was using Instant Scenery at the end of my last project, version 2 I think, but that was before P3D was thought of. I liked Library creator back then, so thanks for keeping it up to date. And MCX, ahead of its time.
