• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to get aircraft.cfg for current aircraft

Ah thanks, RequestSystemState was what i have been missing. Though as you mentioned it's also not perfect, so think some reliable basic file and folder info about files that make up the current situation in SimConnect wouldn't hurt.

How to get aircraft.cfg for current aircraft

Glad i'm not alone :) Since we are at it, how would it be if FS/SimConnect would provide information on the following files/directories via Simulation Variables: - current loaded flight file - current aircraft folder - current flightplan file if one active - current mission file if player is...

How to get aircraft.cfg for current aircraft

Maybe i have missed something but if a simconnect client is loaded after the user loaded an airplane (thus missing the load aircraft event) then there is no really safe way to determine which aircraft the user is flying. All string data returned contains just stuff from aircraft.cfg's (Title...

    No simulation ... but ...

And it doesn't stick to flight level conventions ...

WIP NAS Jacksonville (KNIP) for FSX

Hey that looks really interesting to play with :) I also like your choice of airplane, Goose is my favorite in FSX. Click on the Airport Image to get the Detail Map for KNIP in stock FS. Perhaps the taxiway names in stock airport can help your design.

    Timberline Lodge for FSX

Thanks for clarifying that. I already guessed it had only a start record which i don't use. I thought Helipads might have a DrawSurface or DrawDetail option like taxiways but they don't have according to SDK doc. Maybe an invisible helipad record could be added by setting the type attribute to...

    Timberline Lodge for FSX

I tried out your scenery. It's a very nice VFR area there, pretty much my taste. I hope the lodge owners don't mind me crashing my Bell into the lodge first flight i made there (with real weather, 24kt wind). When i view the airport in my addon i don't get a helipad record though. It shows...

    Camera problem: user aircraft vanishes

It appears to me, since it's cut straight through, that the near clipping plane of the camera bites into the plane. Didn't play with camera stuff so don't know whether thats hardwired or can be set. If it can be set make sure you don't accidentaly modify it over time, since it seems to slowly...

    Viljandi, Estonia (EEVI)

I tried it flying a little around with a Bell. I liked especially how you made the reflections in the windows in the house next to the tower. It was winter and the runway was practically invisible so i'm not sure whether i really hit the runway when landing but there was nobody around to see me...

    Simconnect_data_initposition

I just know it since the tool tip help in visual studio says what object type an item is. It could actually be that the VB compiler compiles a structure as a class so that ILDasm wouldn't see any difference. Structures in VB can have properties and methods, even a New() method (with...

    FSCareer - WIP

Thanks for the explanation for RWY 8/26 at EDDF. And i agree about the gates. At least that gives Airport Scenery Add On developers a good chance to make it better :) Two more airports (click on map for details), today including boundary fences. EDDW - Bremen - Germany EDDM - Munich -...

    FSCareer - WIP

I actually think this might get also a good tool for airport designers to view their work and find some bugs in the airport design like gate and taxiway placement. I will add some more details like which gate actually has a jetway and boundaries. In the EDDF map you can see that two runways...

    FSCareer - WIP

The times of blind taxiing (or yellow arrows on ground) are finally gone ... soon :) Here are a few examples of airport detail maps that show gate/parking numbers and taxiway names: No direct links due to size of images, detail images are around 500kb+ for complex airports. KJFK - John...

    Simconnect_data_initposition

Yes full qualifying the structure name as Microsoft.Flightsimulator.SimConnect.SIMCONNECT_DATA_INITPOSITION does the trick. Must be full qualified even or better especially when there is an #imports "Microsoft.Flightsimulator.SimConnect" in the source. I guess there is also a private instance of...

    Good Freeware bad for business?

I think good freeware can render this or that payware package useless but every add on, be it freeware or not, increases the long term motivation of playing FS and therefore in the long run every add on is a plus for everyone.
