• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    FS2004 Shortwave Radio Volume Control

Good morning, everyone. I'm wondering if someone would be willing to let me know where I may be going wrong. I'm trying to get volume control using Mr. Dawson's "dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau" gauge. I've been able to program the ability to control volume as a whole, but you have to switch the audio...

    Experiences with FS2004 aircraft import/export

Thanks Tom and Arno. I was referring to the fact Tom has mentioned "landing lights" before in the thread, but I'm not seeing that as an option in the dropdown of MCX. The option for "light_land_vis" is not available in the dropdown, nor is the "light_general_vis" option either, despite being...

    Experiences with FS2004 aircraft import/export

Sorry to bring up an older thread, but I've run into a possible issue with FS9 regarding the new export possibilities for aircraft. I'm assisting another user in updating an Fw-200 "Kondor" to look like the one that is being restored in Berlin by Airbus. In the process we have removed all the...

FS2004 Ground Poly Wizard Error Message - Empty BGL.

Yes, the SCASM errors were probably related to the fact I had the option to filter out ground polygons checked. My guess is that for FS2004 it must be unchecked, because it wouldn't work with it checked. Here's an example of some WIP for Cairo Almaza using converted CFS2 objects. It's a...

FS2004 Ground Poly Wizard Error Message - Empty BGL.

Arno, "Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa," as the old saying goes. I read on another post for MCX by "Rhumflabby" that settings may have been changed by accident. I went through my MCX settings and realized there was an optimization setting for "DisableOptimize" that was set to "True" and not...

FS2004 Ground Poly Wizard Error Message - Empty BGL.

Arno, Took a look at the files and procedures I was doing. I unchecked the "Filter out non-ground polygons" option and the files imported in GPW without issue. The problem now is with the export. The file is where it's supposed to be and there's no autogen suppression, but everything is...

FS2004 Ground Poly Wizard Error Message - Empty BGL.

I looked at the procedures a bit and realized that when I load ANY of the files (bgl or mdl) into the GPW they are converted into empty files. Nothing is in the window, even if I change to wireframe. When I export as an FS2002 style ground polygon bgl, it is rotated by 90* for some reason. As...

FS2004 Ground Poly Wizard Error Message - Empty BGL.

Thanks for the reply! I thought I tagged the post with FS2004. I have tried both the straight mdl as well as the bgl. I've also tried an mdl I created a few days ago to see if maybe something was messed up with GMAX. Here are the bgl's and the mdl's. The one with the "map" is the one I used...

FS2004 3D Bldgs and Other "New" Features

Sorry for the late reply, but I've been bouncing back and forth with NYC and Croydon. I've been brushing up on GMAX somewhat, and I'm probably going to make some "city blocks" by just grouping simple buildings of different heights together. It seems it may be easier for me due to the max 300...

FS2004 Ground Poly Wizard Error Message - Empty BGL.

I've run into a small problem with trying to update Croydon. As you may have seen on the older pictures I have posted for Platinum Wings, I managed to create a ground polygon with GPW a while back to recreate the "chalk line" that was at the airfield. It's basically a groundpoly with a texture...

FS2004 3D Bldgs and Other "New" Features

Thanks for the feedback, Arno, I really appreciate it. I'm starting to think the 3D buildings may not be an option -- at least for NYC -- because of my computer. It's old. To get around it, I was trying to mess with the batchrunner for regular AGN, but I'm not able to get any workers to come...

FS2004 3D Bldgs and Other "New" Features

Good Morning! I had a chance to do some testing late Sunday and a little at night the last few nights. Everything seems to be working great now! Unfortunately I've found that my computer is not up to snuff when it comes to memory. Even though the buildings look great, the more I added the...

FS2004 3D Bldgs and Other "New" Features

Thanks for the quick reply, Arno! I'll test it out sometime today if I get the chance. Definately by next weekend. I'll post a pick or two to let you know. Regards, Jorge Miami, FL

FS2004 3D Bldgs and Other "New" Features

Thanks Arno! Guess I'm the only one trying to create a "brand new sim" from old parts! 🤣 Here's a few shots I took last night of what I have so far for NYC over the past few months, though not much work recently. The regular buildings at the left and the trees are autogen from the current...

FS2004 3D Bldgs and Other "New" Features

Arno, Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I'm trying to use the Create3DBuilding step to create a building for FS2004. The script is as follows. Please forgive me if the formatting is off/wrong: ImportOGR|nyc_veg.shp|*|*|NOREPROJ...
