• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    P3D v4 Nose Wheel Animation

You saved a beginning Blender modeller from rage quitting... Thanks. Wim

    Display error (devel.version)

Corrected indeed (ver 21/05/2018). Thanks! Wim

    Display error (devel.version)

No, separate interior and exterior models in the model folder, so it's an FSX model. It's payware from Captain Sim. Possibly something to do with mirroring (?), as only the left wheels and a right engine cowling are affected. The same parts on other side are OK. Must be something very specific...

    Display error (devel.version)

Hi Arno, Dunno if it's common practice to report bugs on the development version. If not, disregard. Anyway, when opening the Captain Sim L-1011 TriStar external model, a limited number of objects shows at a wrong scale. Not a big deal, as I'm just testing a WIP repaint. This started...

    Trouble with semi-transparent texture

I notice I forgot to mention a step. The correct procedure for creating the inside plane based on the outside one is: clone - shift 2cm inwards - rotate 180° - flip UVW horizontally. Wim

    Trouble with semi-transparent texture

Your hint on using MCX surely made testing faster. The material values I used appear to be correct. Then I suddenly realised that creation order was important: window wall A never looked correct when seen through window wall B when wall B was created LATER. This implied I had to create double...

    Trouble with semi-transparent texture

Tried all sorts of settings, tried flipping the planes,... No avail. Always some sides that don't display correctly. Wim

    Trouble with semi-transparent texture

Getting there... checked and applied some gmax material settings from old projects. But now the inside of some of the glass walls show (green), and others don't (red). It's all the same one material. Double sided DXT5. Could use some advice, it'll probably be Xmas before I get this figured out...

    Trouble with semi-transparent texture

I remember having done this in the past, but apparently I'm missing something. When using DDS-DXT1 for complete transparency (alpha 0,0,0) things show up as they should. When I want to add some tinting to the glass (DDS-DXT3 or DXT5 / alpha 190,190,190) the windows let me look through the...

GMAX boolean operation - Unwanted collapsed vertices

Good idea, I kept following that path. I work on the beam construction in a separate project now (in cm.) which I add as an scaled-down XRef to the main building (in m.). Factor is 100x of course, not 1000. Devious maybe, but hey... it works. Thanks! Best regards, Wim

GMAX boolean operation - Unwanted collapsed vertices

Thanks for the replies. Will try that (but boolean on editable poly goes wrong as well). OTOH When I draw everything 1000x bigger (beam 30x15, thickness 2) the boolean operation works as it should. Must be some threshold setting I'm not aware of. Wim

GMAX boolean operation - Unwanted collapsed vertices

I probably messed up some settings in Gmax, as boolean operations give unwanted results. Basically, I want to cut a T-beam under a certain angle. So I do a subtraction of an extruded spline and a box. The beam is 0.30x0.15m, with a thickness of 0.02m. In the result, the extremities of the...

FSXA I created a ghost Ground Line...

That solved the problem ! I opened the GP list, sorted on on "Texture type" and selected every "Single (White)" one by one. And all of a sudden it was there, highlighted. Did some editing clicking on the "Edit" button, and now it's there again, hopefully to stay forever. Thanks, Wim

FSXA I created a ghost Ground Line...

Don't think so. I compiled directly into the Addon Scenery\<my airport>\scenery folder right from the start of this project. All other changes in the editor (additions, deletions, mods, ...) appear correctly in FSX after compiling. Except for this stupid line... (I think it's the only one, but...

FSXA I created a ghost Ground Line...

After working some time on another part of the airfield, I can't find any trace of a line I made a while ago. In FSX it's still there (indicated by the clumsy drawn red arrows) In the editor, no trace of it. No idea of how and when this happened, as it's been a while since I worked on this...
