• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Experiences with FS2004 aircraft import/export

Hi Tom, Yeah I am using the HE but although they show up there with Only Show active unselected and the default top LOD, of 201, in the main MCX window. Now selecting each one of the LODS, even down to 10, does have the lights being shown and highlightable in the Attached Object Editor. This...

    Experiences with FS2004 aircraft import/export

I have loaded up one of the mdls into the latest developers version. I have tried to check each of the LODs individually but the lights do not appear attached in any of them when the 'Only Show active' option is selected. So I guess the question that I have is how do I show Lod '-1' items...

Thanks, Arno. At least you have confirmed that I understood it correctly. The AEs that I was talking about were the two that were left AFTER the conversion to FS9, taxy and landing lights, so maybe there is something that means that below a certain LOD a lighting effect does not show.

    Experiences with FS2004 aircraft import/export

It has been quite a while since I have posted anything here but I have now got a question. I am not sure whether it is something that MCX doesn't handle well or whether I am doing something wrong. It is to do with AttachedEffects. The mdl was originally P3D and has been converted to FS9. It has...

    Not a problem.

    Experiences with FS2004 aircraft import/export

Arno, I found a weird bug that took me a day to work out how to get over it. I apologize in advance for the long post but I thought that if I explained the whole process it might help you diagnose what is going wrong. First of the mdl is an FSX one. So the issue relates to texture switching...

You guys were correct. Looking at the .air file the modeller had removed all parms below 341 except for 1, the name. This obviously works for FSX and P3D but FS9 obviously has at least some compulsory fields below 341. I just added the default fields from the B737 and hey presto the aircraft...

Thanks guys. Tom, that sounds like a good idea but this is an AI aircraft not a flyable so it doesn't quite gel on this occassion. I will however, store that info for future reference. Greg, I will try to see if it is an air file thing. I haven't heard of this before but it does sound like...

    Experiences with FS2004 aircraft import/export

Gents, I have been struggling with an issue for a couple of weeks and I have got nowhere in solving it. I wonder if anybody can shine some light on it. I should start by saying that the package of models is for FSX one but the same error occurs with the P3D versions. The obvious conclusion here...

It does sound like a settings issue then, unless you don't have the P3D SDK installed. I apologise for taking up a lot of space but this is in the name of helping. I have left out Renderer and Texture settings as I don't believe that they would have an impact. See if there is anything that is...

    Experiences with FS2004 aircraft import/export

I downloaded them had took a quick look. I quickly found what I think might be the problem. The parts have custom anim and vis parts that seem to be containing global parms that may or may not be found in FS9. Therefore I am assuming that MCX would not export those conditions. Have a look at...

You are quite correct, Tom. I chose poorly on picking a random target for my question. I was in the middle of working on that one and had not completed it.

Not really what you would call a positive answer but how does the texture differ from one I applied to a Mosquito conversion? Does this help at all, or is it all down to the texture colour on the bmp? Pic attached.

Arno, just to let you know that the Andover prop issue was indeed resolved, and although I haven't finished working my way through them, it does seem to have fixed the helos too.
